I'm not a free software zelot or anything, but I do this on my desktop and its not too difficult. As far as I can tell they're aren't any binary blob drivers to install anyway and the standard linux drivers work great.

Full disk encryption is only as good as the TPM and I’d imagine that nation states have plenty of exploits they could use to bypass them. Not to mention cold boot attacks if the laptop was still running.

It took me a while to find it on iOS, it’s under the contacts tab called “find people near by”. It doesn’t seem to work without location enabled so hopefully that would keep you safe.

Just last week I had to help my sister reinstall windows because she used respondus and now her computer blue screens every time she turns on her webcam. It runs as root and appears to mess with the kernel, so a clean reinstall seemed like

Maybe I’m just not remembering, but I don’t think the show ever goes into exactly what distro Elliots running. I’m pretty sure you only get glimpses of his de which is usually GNOME, but I’m pretty sure I saw cinnamon at one point.

I think they were probably referring to the more mundane use of insurance companies buying the data and raising premiums for people with genetic risk factors. Which IMO seems very plausible.

Out of curiosity how did you know the precision of location the app was asking for? If I recall correctly android gives the same permission prompt for fine and course location.

It depends on the version most release builds of Firefox require addons to be signed by Mozilla with the exception on Linux and developer versions. You can also change this by compiling yourself.

Arch gives you the option to use the system libraries or the built in one using steam-runtime or the steam-native binaries. But the package needs to install the 32 bit libraries to give you the option.
