Funny thing, I recently attempted exactly same thing, just as interactive toy. I had notes arranged in lattice (Tonnetz, harmonic table layout, however you want to call it) with full chromatic range of 3 and half octaves. The lattice respon

For those boxes, 'digital' is just implementation detail. User interface and interface towards other equipment is still completely analog. I agree that they look very clean and usable. I don't think there's anything wron

The UX of digital equipment _really_ sucks. At first I thought it was because it was a new technology still in infancy, but things haven't improved since and we are still emulating analog controls. VST interfaces often have static back

Thanks. I'm using free samples I find around (common source being decompiled soundfonts). I also plan to integrate Faust audio processing which would enable true digital synthesis and HiFi sound effects. Next version of guitar should h

Last few months I've been building digital musical instruments for Android [0], I guess I'll continue working on that. So far I've built a few 'instruments' that emulate traditional instruments (guitar, organ, choir

Vertical tabs in tree structure is currently the best way to use web, especially when you pair it with auto-unloading of inactive tabs. I'm also disappointed that nothing better appeared in last few years. Developers seem to be extreme

To repeat my previous comment: I've used Faust for a few months two years ago and I plan to use it again to write audio DSP apps. It's very powerful and expressive, and targeting many different systems/platforms is no problem

There are already some open source personal assistants, like Mycroft and Jasper. Integrating Mozilla's DeepSpeech into one of them would be fantastic.

This is product launch? Where is the product page? API docs? How does Sumerian relate to Lumberyard, the other Amazon 3D engine? They demonstrate basic placing of 3D objects in environment, what about UI?

Very cool, editor runs smoothly. The file system isn't really usable, right? I could't save the project to try run the project. It would be nice to include a sample project just to get a better feel for performance without creatin

I wouldn't use expression 'protocol upgrade', that implies it's mandatory and that current protocol is rendered obsolete. I think 'fork' better explains the mechanics.

I would also hope for such incremental change, but I don't see it happening. If you take a look at historical development of desktop OS UIs, you'll see all concepts established in 80s and not much (any) progress since then. Icons

Yeah, I wouldn't use facial and eye tracking instead of traditional input interface. They are meant to enrich interaction with other people. Eye tracking could be used for some optimizations, like dynamic LoD based on user focus. I tho

Just look at this nonsense [1]. We have brand new technology with unlimited potential for new abstractions and paradigms. So, what do we do? We make a virtual desktop workstation, the same one we had since 70s! We limit all rendering to a 2

I agree that current batch of apps isn't well suited for task. They can set you on the path and create habit, but it's not a long-term solution. Part of the problem is lack of ambition; most people are after relaxing and de-stress

This is exciting possibility, but I would expect the builders will try to minimize the volume taken by shaft. Corridors are less expensive to build and maintain than these high-tech shafts.

Even as beginner in web tech, I was convinced of the same after glancing at the code. There's probably more project packaging description LoC than logic code, so SNR is quite low.
