If I, for example, would have been a regular guest in that place and they would go cashless, I would politely let the owner know that I won't be visiting them until they accept cash payments again.

Explicit vs implicit dependencies (useEffect vs Signal.Computed/effect) and the fact that signals in contrast to useState can be used outside of react context which I assume is a good thing. I personally mostly prefer more explicit han

Sorry, if it somehow sounded that my example is somehow more than what was mentioned in the article. Absolutely not. I think that my example also very well demonstrates that lines of code (even that isn't really "code") isn&#

Not much of an achievement, but I once deleted a 45k line Jest snapshot test for a React component that basically asserted that a div is rendered.

Isn't Oracle SQL still one of the most advanced databases? To some it may be the "new tech" you're talking about. I wouldn't use Oracle SQL for other reasons, but purely from technical standpoint it's one of th

Yes, it is. To me ads are totally useless. I have never bought anything. It's nothing else than unnecessary distraction. I'm not worried about not paying this monstrously huge company.

This made me laugh: def can_drive(age) case age when 1..14 then 'no' when 15..100 then 'yes' end end puts can_drive(18) # yes I haven't used Ruby for a long time, and I don't feel bad about it.

For example, having some Django or RoR render forms and handle submit with a full reload, or another case where client would query some endpoints via JS fetch API and handle the responses that way.

What's the use case for Htmx? When would someone want to use this over more tradional approaches?

One big reason I use JS on the backend is because Prisma can generate types for my API endpoints which I can use for my client code. Having confidence that my code works as expected is a huge deal and having end to end type safety is a grea

The delay in increment/decrement example is not acceptable for a web UI that is expected to update instantly. I believe it should be less than 150ms to become noticeable for the user.

I don't know. But that's the point - we can only guess, but I'm sure there would be plenty of very interesting things found. You know how a lot of prominent people say that FED is a private entity, right?

I think what snowl wanted to know was more technical than that - why such new syntax is necessary to achieve those things? Why exactly the same things cannot be achieved with existing syntax? For example, it's very understandable why J
