I tried to build an online community of youths interested in politics and failed for lack of people. (We did have a very narrow target group: German youths who were both interested in social matters and enjoyed writing. That probably killed

A very interesting link - I've been looking for something like that. Thanks for sharing! Turns out, I'm somewhere between "n^2" and "n" skillwise. Encouraging, but there's still some optimization to do ;-)

You're probably going to have problems getting enough people to sign up though - they'd need a good incentive. (Speaking from experience here :-( )

There are plenty of good, free online CS resources. Check out this page: https://github.com/vhf/free-programming-books/blob/master/fr... Also, have a look at MOOCs on platforms like Udacity, Coursera, ed

Interesting idea... I think it's great that someone is doing this, but with all due respect - 1.6bn € via crowdfunding??? Canonical tried to get 32m back in 2013 for the Ubuntu Edge smartphone. Despite a promising start (> 1m in 5hr

OK, thanks for the clarification everyone! > there are two operators (one taking the address of something, the result of which is a pointer, another taking a bitwise AND); they both use the same symbol "&". Don't you j

It is basically just that :-) What I don't understand is the following line: prndindex = (prndindex+1)&0xff; (I'm not a C programmer.) AFAIK, the &0xff is a pointer - but what precisely does it do?

One commenter on the page said: "In retrospect this post is obviously satire." I would agree - didn't realize it at first, but it does sound a bit too OTT on second thoughts...

I think that's the stage I'm at right now (or getting there). But what is the divide between "junior" and "senior/advanced" programmers? And what would help somebody (me) push across that boundary?
