Disabling JS doesn't help in this case. This post shows that it is possible to put unwanted text in your c&p buffer without using JS: http://thejh.net/misc/website-terminal-copy-paste

You don't have to ditch Ubuntu right away. You can install the nix package manager on any Linux distro (and I think also *BSD and MacOS). That way you can play around with it first. You won't get the full power of NixOS but it

Wow that's pretty impressive. Thanks for the insight in the maintainer story of Nix. I guess it is kinda the same for guix and this more or less invalidates my concerns. So maybe the next time, I reinstall my OS, it's gonna be one

I also guessed that the lack of dedicated maintainers is due to a lack of volunteers, but that's something that stops me from using either guix or Nix at least from handling the critical part of my OS (kernel and base system). For deve

Yeah I just realized that. The binary caches might experience higher load but it the worst case you would have to build the binary yourself. I just had to reinstall guix since `guix pull && guix package -u` didn't seem to upgra

Sorry for being unclear. The part about being hosted on GitHub actually referred to Nix. That's the point where I'm unclear about what seems to be the better solution. GitHub could take a turn for the worse but at least for now, G

I'd love to use Guix (or Nix for that matter) as my day-to-day system but (and correct me, if I'm wrong) the package maintainer story is a bit off putting for me. From what I've understood, packages are maintained in a public

Many techniques to make binary analysis harder came from anonymous malware authors. In the early days, writing viruses was more of an educational game than infecting people to cause harm. I'm thinking about poly- or metamorphic code th

Of course. These should require licences as well. I might even go a step further and ban alcohol and tobaco from being sold in supermarkets but only in the same stores where you could buy the other drugs.

I think first of all, possession of all drugs should be legalized. Secondly, we need state controlled entities that are allowed to sell drugs. This tackles a number of problems: Better youth protection: a dealer doesn't care if you are

Switzerland has a program where clean heroin is given to addicts. Since the program started in 1994, none of the participants died from an overdose or other problems caused by impure drugs. Also, as long as you have a clean substance, it is

I'm self-hosting my mail server using mailcow[0] for little over a year now and everything works fine. It comes with a admin interface to manage accounts and the SoGo webmail client[1]. Getting it up and running was also pretty easy. C

The site was back online again for a few years after the raid. The second time it went offline was due to lack of activity I guess. Would be great to bring it back online even if it was a read only backup...

Dying is part of living. You cannot live without dying eventually (at least for now). Being born ultimately leads to dying somewhen. There is no way around that, that's just how living works. Since you cannot change anything about that
