Canada produces something like 70-80% of the world's maple syrup, and as the article says Quebec alone produces around 70% of the world's maple syrup. I imagine our flag combined with that most maple syrup people are consuming def

Anyone know why it causes a crash? I cleaned up the javascript a bit by adding whitespace and more meaningful variable names: https://gist.github.com/mdesson/b87c51ff4caf7bd4d2f74b52e8d6...

In fairness, removing the context from art removes a lot its value. This would be akin to reading Animal Farm and ignoring its allegory about Communism and judging it purely on its merit as a story about some animals staging a revolution. T

I'm not sure if this is what you're alluding to, but that's literally the plot to an episode of Black Mirror. The robots are even clearly inspired by Boston Dyanmics

A friend of mine in public health mentioned to me that it's not uncommon for second waves of epidemics to be less deadly, since many of the people most vulnerable to the disease would have already passed away during the first wave.

I went with some Dutch Company called VNC Asia, I have no recollection of how I found them and their website doesn't even offer an English option anymore. It was 1235 Euros, which honestly was pretty good, although at the time I'd

Adjacent to devops/SRE, I've been actively looking for newsletters (or communities) related to Distributed Systems. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any recommendations.

I'm of the opinion that most of lodash should just be incorporated into vanilla javascript, as part of its standard library. It could be done similarly to Python (or any language, really), and just group each collection of functions by

Out of curiosity, why did you go with height instead of timing? Wouldn't you get equivalent results without the use of the sensor by activating the motor for a set period of time?

Does anyone have any idea what outdated technologies they're using (notably the the ones that are sixty years old)? It would be interesting to learn which software has managed to stick around for so long and what it does. Two anecdotes

Very wrong, unfortunately. At my school there are students halfway through their degree who can't switch a git branch without using a drop-down menu in their IDE (and even then with difficulty) or have ever used the CLI for anything. T

Equally anecdotal, but I am in tech and have a liberal arts degree, and have a coworker who is the same. I also know a few others. In most cases these are people who found the job market rough with a BA (or MA), and fell in love with tech.
