Interesting but I really don't envy working for a unicorn. Usually in such fast paced fast growing companies the most toxic environments tend to come up.

The idea of paying for restoring your account is quite smart, Google, Facebook etc should adopt it. And if it's the algorithm that failed you should also get your money back.

Being able to receive AST in crystal is only good. However have a look here [1], 90% of your macros are covered with those helpers. In Rust doing the same things are either more difficult or impossible. For instance, I wanted in rust to inj

Crystal has macros which is the metaprogramming for static/compiled languages. And last time I checked, there are way more things that you can do with Crystal macros than Rust's macros. And crystal's macros feel very familiar

can you be a bit more specific what are your requirements? Certainly services like twilio and firebase can help you, but still you need to write some lines of code.

I had filled a relevant issue [1] a while ago in Ruby issue tracker. I also thought that teaching Ruby language in children, in their native language, would be so cool. [1] https://bugs.ruby-lang.org/issues/12722

For small apps and projects that continuous delivery is not required I would start with lxd. I think it's the easiest way to containerize an app. Once that feels too little, I would start looking at docker, and only when docker feels a

What is the "backend'for this? I mean do they use something like twilio or something else? I am asking cause I think most such services use SIP instead of xmpp, although for messages xmpp might fit better.

The future of online identity is indeed decentralized and not distributed, meaning that users will always have some super nodes to handle their identity on behalf of them. In my opinion Facebook/Twitter/etc are not identity provid

Nice, I really hope the project continues to develop. If we can combine functional programming patterns with the power of static typing on top of OTP, that would be a paradise to work on.

I am surprised that for smaller countries there is such big difference between Twilio and MessageBird. For instance, for Albania, in Twilio, the per-number price is $1.0, and inbound sms are not even supported. On the other hand for Message

what's the case with async-std? Do the tokio devs have meetings with async-std regarding common problems they are facing, and is there any chance of merging those 2 projects, since in my humble opinion, seems like they solve the same p

Hi, unfortunately none. Webrtc is just another islands of silos. Which is quite unfortunate, I would expect webrtc to become like email. Imagine if gmail could communicate only with other gmail mails. That's what the current situation

Doesn't that make a plane less engine-fault tolerant? Completely noob here, but I would feel better if I flew in a 4-engine plane than 2-engine. In a 4-engine plane, even if 2 engines faults (like, bird strike), the other 2 will still

worked with Erlang lately in a side project, I think the actor model is really cool (and the FP style), but the error messages are not helpful at all (at least for a beginner), I wonder how other people manage.

The fact that JSON is just a format standard and doesn't have specified components (like links etc) but instead we have to built those on top has cost us a lot in APIs. Btw, according to RFC 8288 Web Linking (and before that 5988), a l

Not really valid. In JS if a function blocks for 1 sec, the scheduler executes another function. The whole thread blocks for 1 sec only when all its async based functions block. The concurrency model is based on the event loop: https:

EmberJS with its addons is very similar to Rails productivity. React has some pretty good drop-in components as well, but mostly are related to UI.
