How is stadia an upgrade to Switch? Stadia is an upgrade to nothing, as in having Stadia is better than having no way to play games. But an upgrade to a dedicated games console?

It’s not like you would be the first people to get vaccinated with sputkin-V, you know. Rollout in Russia is slow (as per usual), but my whole family got at least one dose already, and we are all fine. No third arms, no blood, coming out of

Well, a spinner can be added even into non-SPA applications. So I don’t see how that is an argument for SPA. I presume you can lie to user by pretending that their change was instantly submitted, while syncing in background. In that case,

Huh? How does SPA help here? JSON payloads don't go faster over the wire than html.

So, you chose a good muxer. Now, which of hundreds of logging, cors, sessions, jwt and permissions middlewares work with said mud and with each other best? Or, and bear with me here, you can outsource those decisions to other folks, and jus

LTS in js-world is usually something like "we support it for about three months, maybe six". And if within that period they release an incompatible version, your upgrade path is worse, beacause your version is too old.

This should be a reason to use moment.js more, not less. It’s done, so it will not change under you, and you won’t have to rewrite your app.

Honestly, I wish more js libraries would be that way. I’ve used date-fns in a small part of an app, so of course when I return to it in several months, date-fns released a fully incompatible new major version.

Oh, so thats what it is. I honestly thought that they somehow implemented scroll in js, and it doesn't work in safari, because reddit engineers didn't test it :)

Really? In Russia I haven’t seen a single store without 3D Secure for a loooong time. And they are doing quite fine. Maybe it’s just that US customers are lazy?

I mean, hardware nowadays is quite reliable. We have a simple server with three disks in raid1, and it basically just works. Gitlab has regular backups, so at worst we would have one day of lost work.

In Russia we sometimes joke, that a project can be implemented by a student paid with food. This project reeeeeally looks like such project. I mean honestly, probably anyone here can create this “app” in a day. Maybe I don’t understand the

Lots of people as in about 10% (brave probably less than 1%). As soon as Google is allowed to ship it's own browser engine on iOS, open web is doomed. Google will simply start to ship new “standards”, and web developers will use those

But there is an add to home screen functionality. I, for instance, have a Kindle Store “app”, which was added from safari.

And Google will have full control over the web. As soon as they have majority browser on all platforms, they will ramp up their “innovations” of web platform and leave competition in the dust. And then nobody will be able to stop “standards

Meh, 1Gbps over cable is nothing, really. Switches with 10g uplink ports cost almost nothing now. Problem is that most software and hardware on user’s side can’t deal with that speed :) 5G smartphones probably won’t be able to give you 1Ggp

If you think of your database as a loosely constrained document storage - then yes, postgres is worse than mongo. But, if you think of your database as a single source of truth, then I almost can't imagine any reason to use mongo[1]. W

4. This won't work if one of the branches errors, because they are both evaluated. You can, however, pass a callback. But a simple ternary operator does look better.
