I wonder what people think about session replay, ethically. Is it okay to do? Do you think visitors should be informed about it? Would you use a website differently if there was a big red banner saying your cursor movements and viewport are

Forgejo is fantastic. I do think it could use a fresh coat of paint from a designer but it’s otherwise really good. Gitea (what Forgejo forked from) recently stole the sidebar on repos from GitHub and I think that would be great for Forgejo

This is unbelievable!! At a certain point surely doing things the right way would be easier or more clearly correct? Like, if you were implementing this you’d obviously know that it’s insecure right??

That’s fair. I can see a lot of reasons to stay in Canada over the US for long term plans. Although it feels like all of the desirable jobs (in terms of technical interestingness and pay) are in the US. At least for internships.

As a current Waterloo student (who is not particularly tied to any specific place). I’m curious about this and I’d like to know more. Why US for 5 years and why back?

I genuinely wonder if consulting LLMs for naming advice could be an explanation. They certainly wouldn’t be great at coming up with new words for a product name.

I noticed the WebKit quirks file even has rules for new websites, like claude.ai. That feels like a bad idea in my opinion… in my mind it would make sense to wait for Anthropic to address any browser compatibility issues, especially since c

Obviously this wouldn’t be compatible with existing plugins, so I’d separate legacy plugins and new plugins, and add a lot of friction to install the legacy plugins, which will be deprecated at some point.

I’m not convinced that automated checks will be able to reliably assess whether a plugin is malicious. I think the best (only?) way to solve the plugin security problem would be to properly sandbox them with an explicit API and permission s

I think it’s a very fair analogy. The _only_ way to stop them is to make your stuff secure. That’s literally the only way.

I'm yet to see a good example of the title stripping, at least for "how" and "how to" (although perhaps this is survivorship bias).

This reminds me of some ways Microsoft used to try catching/dissuading leakers. If someone could find a source for these.. The Xbox 360's dashboard used to have 'aesthetic' rings that actually encoded your serial number,
