This was my takeaway as well. Yishan is arguing that social media companies aren't picking sides they're just aiming for a happy community, but the end result of that is that the loudest and angriest group(s) end up emotionally bu

Good point. I'm very excited about the prospect of AST editors but never saw it working well with a keyboard. In a phone/touch environment it feels like forcing move. Would be cool to explore.

I think the OP is trying to point out that Copilot can be used to help achieve 'evil', and used the white house example above. I don't think anyone ever suggested it couldn't be used for evil. By default, everything can

Version control can be built into the system. One click to deploy the change, one click to revert it. (You could even have automatic one-box/A-B deployment of a change within code)

I agree that code is what matters, but whats your take on writing code vs influencing people who write code? Seems to be a trade off, but it seems to me that eventually you can't write code as fast as you can influence other people who

Very interesting. Editing code at the level of text is too low, ideally it would be raised to the level of thought. We don't think in terms of characters changing, we think in terms of higher level block constructs. It's not about

Dan had a good summary of why hooks happened which I can't find now, the tldr was that there was a bunch of bugs introduced around referenced props/state being stale and unpredictable in components. Hooks was the natural evolution

I agree here, and I think a good way to think of it is not as government handouts but government incentives. $x for chips in USA incentivizes industry to move to USA which creates jobs and reduces a dependency on external companies. $y for
