Not necessarily. The US Department of Labor posts guidelines on unpaid interns: http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs71.pdf Of course item 4 will always be a grey area: "The employer that provides the training derives no immediate

I'm interested to hear about expectations for Diablo III. I'm long ATVI because of their dividend, financials, and value fundamentals. Gaming also seems like a growth industry and Blizzard/Activision have some strong gaming franchises. I

Each of the scenarios 1 through 3 builds upon each other. The outcomes of 1 and 3 are similar, but in scenario 2 jokers are introduced into the mix, and in scenario 3 batmans are introduced to counteract the jokers. ...I believe the author

"A rocket ship of growth" and dying are two very different things. ...and I agree on the leadership issues. I'm not saying they're perfect, I'm not even saying I agree with their actions in this case - I definitely don't. What I am saying

You're wrong about yahoo "dying". They've increased revenue by about 800% and earnings by 1000% in that decade of death you're referring to. As for "Yahoo the search engine" - that certainly seems to be a lost cause, but Yahoo has built a

From my experience with a couple health related start-ups, I would suggest that the lack of good health apps has much more to do with the current state of the health care system, and less with entrepreneurs familiarity with healthcare. The

I'm not saying they don't provide a valuable service. I'm saying they won't be able to exist without making a profit, and angering the people you're trying to get to write checks is a poor way to go about growing your business. There defi

The problem with Restaurant owners hating yelp, is they are yelp's customers. They need to figure out a better way to monetize their business, because selling ads to the people who loathe them probably won't work for long. I have a local b

In my opinion, the first step is to collect information. It won't hurt to see what interest there is for selling the business... from there crunch the numbers on what you think you can generate on your own. Then it's a matter of what you

So many options. WordPress is about as simple (from a end-user perspective) as they come, it isn't necessarily lightweight, but it's more lightweight than some other options. More importantly, it has a very active following and vibrant de

I've found that there are times that some of those "features" can make browsing slightly more efficient. Cookies, cache, history, etc. have all come in handy at times. I have my chrome setup with the standard privacy settings, and then hav

It's been a few months since I utilized Magento in a project, but I was very impressed (from a end-user perspective) with its UI/UX and feature set. It's based on the LAMP stack and has a very active community and a variety of plug-ins. Th

Good points. It was harsh and not entirely relevant. I'm just passionate about the topic because of my experience. I could find outdated "scholarly papers" that say the world is flat. I didn't have enough time to dig up counter research

Glad to see someone looking at the macro picture, instead of pretending they can use charts to predict the future. I largely agree on the bullish outlook, but think that we're due for some more short term volatility.

For people wondering about the hourglass problem: 1) @0min: Take both glasses (4 & 7) and flip them over. 2) @4min: When the 4min glass is empty, flip it back over 3) @7min: When the 7min glass runs out, flip it back over. 4) @8min:

In this day and age of "just in time", scaling up production should not be an issue. They can't give them away forever, and if they do, it's a great value for the consumer. Protectionism is toxic, and is not the answer.
