Yea, this is a BS theory. I have a 16Gb M1 MacBook Air and the real answer is that it has super fast SSD access, so you don’t notice the first few gigabytes of swap. But when swap hits 8-9 Gb, it’s effects start to get very noticeable.

A big part of saving Apple was Jobs killing the clone program. That lesson probably still resonates in the halls of Apple even if allowing hackintoshes is a different thing without the same risks.

Judge: Mr. Hutz We’ve been in here for four hours. Do you have any evidence at all? Hutz: Well, Your Honor. We’ve plenty of hearsay and conjecture. Those are KINDS of evidence.

I remember when the US tax code was going to be simplified so that an entire tax return form could be printed on a post card.

Most people aren’t at a gross disadvantage to those who know how to game the system or bribe authorities to make their hands work far better than others.

OCSP requests don’t identify software, they identify certificates. Each certificate can be used for dozens of different apps.

How is certificate checking a terrible idea? It doesn’t leak the application name or any personal information, and Apple doesn’t store it permanently.

From my experience looking at open source jailbreak repos, I’d say writing commented, maintainable code with good error checking is not a required skill.

Yea, I’ve heard the M1 has features to make JS compilation super fast. For photoshopped I have no idea of which of the micro benchmarks have the most predictive ability for Photoshop performance. If it’s mostly memcpy, Rosetta2 is nearly as

Anandtech has benchmarked Rosetta2 at 70-80% of native in most of their tests. https://www.anandtech.com/show/16252/mac-mini-apple-m1-teste... Assuming 75% on average that would increase the M1 benchmarks about 3

No, Apple has a code of conduct all their contractors are required to adhere to,, and pays substantially more than market. Their jobs are so coveted potential hires wait in lines for days just for a chance at getting an Apple job.

Apples relationship with Foxconn has a lot more to do with providing safer and higher paid jobs to allow workers to escape brutal rural farm jobs. I’ve never seen anyone wait in massive lines for days just for the chance at slavery.

MacOS is not iOS because a Mac is not a phone. Craig Federeghi has spoken about the differences multiple times recently, repeatedly saying they aren’t changing MacOS to be more like iPadOS or iOS. They use the Mac too, and need its separate

Why did she put a passcode on it if she didn’t want it to be secure? You can use an iPhone with no passcode at all. Blaming Apple for “locking you out” when you were the one who locked the door and lost the key is silly.
