I was critical of Mighty on twitter, but not because I think it can't succeed. I don't want it to succeed. The whole concept is solving a problem that shouldn't need to be solved, ie running bloated web apps on commodity hard

Very cool, I wish the path of the rocket wasn't white though. Blends in the the clouds too much imo.

This post is about the first successful landing of SpaceX's Starship. What does that have anything to do with crypto.

Apple had never release a MacBook Air that's faster than the previous top of the line MacBook Pro. This is a first. The air has had great battery for a while that's true, but now it has great battery and great performance.

The M1 is far from meaningless. Apple's new MacBook Air is by far the best laptop I've ever used. It has fantastic battery life, stays cool without a fan, and competes with the Intel i9 in terms of performance.

The watch will only unlock your phone when you're wearing a mask. If FaceID doesn't see a mask it will ignore the Apple Watch.

Have you tried the new geometry nodes? I've found them to be an excellent alternative to particles for a bunch of use cases.

I believe the additional motors actually contribute to the longer range. The motors can be individually optimized for different speeds, ie you can have one motor be optimized for the highway and the other for low speeds.

Have you tried using Eevee for shader adjustments? A pretty common workflow is get your lighting setup working with Eevee and then switch to Cycles for the final render.

I built a raspberry pi IR blaster to solve this very problem. I have shortcuts on the home screen that talk to the pi when I want to control the TV volume from my iPhone.

I like the sound of a non-Apple arm chip for workstations. Given my positive experience with the M1 I'd be perfectly happy never using x86 again after this market niche is filled.

Yeah I try every ddg every six months or so. Their results are getting better but I still find myself using g! enough that it's annoying.

Google AMP breaks full screen safari and reader mode on iPhone. I've gotten so fed up with it that I've set google.com to always load as desktop. Search results are smaller and harder to read, but it's well worth the tradeoff

Any iPhone with FaceID is actually a very capable as a 3D scanner. I recommend heges, it has support for Lidar scanning as well (if you have an iPhone 12 Pro or a new iPad Pro). https://hege.sh/

These scans don't look any higher quality than what you can get with FaceId or lidar on the iPad Pro. It's a product from 2015 so I guess it could have made sense back then.

That sounds premature. There have been zero fsd beta crashes so far according to Elon. The beta is clearly designed to err on the side of caution. The majority of disengagement's are due to this behavior. You could actually argue that

What about performance concerns? This sounds unbearably slow, especially for someone accustomed to an NVME SSD. Not sure why you would do that to yourself when cloud backups are an option.

Not much would change I imagine. For most tasks consumers care about low latency trumps raw compute power.

Right, it sounds like an alternative to Tesla autopilot on the highway without the hand on the wheel requirement. I really doubt this is capable of making turns or stopping for traffic control.

I mean who cares if it requires a hand on the wheel at this point? The important thing is that Tesla is making progress toward L4, and with this update they are closer than ever.

The Tesla self driving beta is between L3 and L4. I don’t know if it can pull over or not, but every other box is checked for L4.

Well to start off I’m not advising buying two 3080s. I haven’t seen the benchmarks, and on top of that the 3080 doesn’t support SLI so if you do buy two of them you will need to be using software which can utilize two independent GPUs. If y

Seems like a good speedup relative to the Titan, especially for the money. I’d be interested to see the performance relative to the 3080 though. There are obviously vram limitations with the 3080 but it would still be interesting to see the

It’s interesting that the 3090 is a replacement for the Titan. The $1500 price tag is a bit higher than expected but considering the Titan cost $2500 it doesn’t seem too unreasonable.

There are lots of private apis in iOS which developers are not allowed to use but would allow for a richer, wider variety of apps. For example f.lux has a large feature set which isn’t built into Apple’s night shift. F.lux relies on a priva
