That’s typical for most new apps. It takes apple a day or two to index everything.

Works really well. I'm happy to have an official app. I've never been entirely comfortable with passing my chats through a third party, I prefer to keep the number of people eavesdropping on me to a minimum. Here's to hoping

Why can’t they reduce voltage to each pixel to reduce brightness? I don’t see this as a fundamental limitation of the display technology, PWM is just easy and cheap to implement.

Is MicroLED the be all end all for display technologies? Perfect blacks, high brightness, no burn in, no bezels, thin. It's hard to imagine another display tech displacing MicroLED once it takes hold. Does it have any theoretical downs

My gut feeling is that the majority of AI safety discussions are driven by companies that fear losing their competitive edge to small businesses. Until now, it's been challenging to grow a company beyond a certain size without employin

It's an old, stale gimmick, but considering how out of touch our congress can be, it's likely one they haven't seen before.

Nvidia is somewhat encumbered by their need to optimize for raster performance. Ideally, all those transistors should be going toward tensor cores. Apple has never really taken the gaming market seriously. If they wanted to, they could ship

The problem isn't the accessibility of Git. I agree that it's easy enough to set up a Github account today. I've been somewhat of a Git evangelist. I've tried and failed countless times to convince people of the utility

I think you overestimate the competence of the majority of professors. They can’t require version control if they don’t understand what it is or how to use it.

I don’t understand how that’s useful as a captcha. How do you evaluate if something sounds human like other than gut feeling?

I doubt this would work reliably if the LLM system prompt instructs it to play dumb. “Answer this question as a human with 6th grade math skills” is pretty much all that’s needed to defeat your captcha.

Tried the first with with GPT4 and it passed. Seems the shelf life on text based captchas is about as long as OpenAI’s release cadence.

How do we get to the point where this therapy doesn’t require a team of scientists to manufacture? Is there a future where every cancer center has a DNA sequencer and mRNA synthesizer?

Child mortality has fallen almost every year since the 1800s. That doesn’t happen without advancements like this. Are you really advocating for higher child mortality?

Other than driving a mass exodus to Firefox, I don’t see this having any real impact. Unless you own the whole software stack adblock is a game of cat and mouse. Let’s say worst case scenario google embeds ads into the video itself, and ref

No, that wasn’t my point. You don’t need docs, just feed in the raw source code. GPT4 can make sense of code without documentation.

Depends entirely on if the shell script is mission critical. I couldn't care less about the quality of my LLM shell scripts most of the time. My only success criteria is that is that it solves a problem. These are scripts I'm neve

My current workflow is to copy a bunch of relevant code into GPT4 and then ask it questions about how to use the API. GPT4 is very good at inferring how to use an API, even from code snippets. The key is that you can paste large amounts of

This sounds to me like you have no idea how to properly integrate LLMs into your workflow. Just because they’re not useful for changing large code bases doesn’t mean they can’t be valuable. A few examples of things I’ve used LLMs for: Writi

If your goal is to simulate a human doing addition with pen and paper it only seems fair to give the GPT read/write access to a text file. Outputting the answer directly from the model is much more akin to mental math.

That’s not my experience. I work in downtown Minneapolis and open street maps is missing basic things like entrances to public parking lots. Open street maps has a problem if it can’t get details right in population dense areas.

I'd say a hallmark of an intelligent agent is knowledge seeking. You can only learn so much without venturing out into space.
