For sure, and I think different people may understate or overstate its complexity. It's definitely worse than Go but it's not nearly a field of landmines like C++. I think it's quite feasible to learn the basics in a short pe

The history lesson is very much appreciated. I didn't know most of those facts about Prohibition. I agree with everything you said about morality. There is no real cure for the "disease"; critical thinking is lacking among th

Even if the universe is all of existence, that the universe holds no meaning is an axiom. If that means that I can't hold anything to a meaning, I reject that axiom because I do hold things to have meaning. I'm not mindlessly typi

I wonder if there's a 90% compatible POSIX subset that's easier to get people to adopt. Like they say, the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now. We have to do stuff and hope they work out, not twi

I'll get straight to the point. Abortion. Controversial topic, yes? People view it as a moral question, and it's a fairly direct reflection of one's moral values. Do you mean to say that a reasonable vision of the world based

The authors should at least note caveats such as that. It doesn't seem like they did in the "Limitations and future directions" section. The article seems to just take the conclusion as given. The initial description of conse

Apparently I'm not far off from some brand of libertarianism. I don't think the government should apply the law to regulate vices, and rather that such issues should ( must , to be a true solution and not a band-aid) be resolved b

Heh, that's the bare minimum. From what I've read, people who have bad family experiences (abuse, narcissism, etc.) tend to mirror that or find partners who do, and there are plenty of outdated norms besides.
