VC’s (or proxy organizations for government think tanks) are willing to pay for it indefinitely. Why? Because it allows them to shape public discourse at an incredibly cheap bang for the buck.

What exactly are you still reading on usenet? I’ve never been able to find anything that isn’t just spam.

Last I heard HN ran on a single server with a second as a backup. Likely couple hundred/mo in electricity and bandwidth. They do retain at least two full time staff members though, so that’s going to be 10k/mo+ at the minimum.

Not really. It rapidly causes increased pressure on local LEO to increase presence while at the same time voting for policies that increase taxation and cost of living will drive the poor out of the area.

Primarily because google has become completely useless. I get more accurate search results with Yandex, Brave, and bing, in that order. That’s how bad it is. And I hate Yandex. They’re always making me do captcha challenges.

I could down a meter long sub by myself, and I’m fairly certain my dog could too. No need to share.

Likely due to the model used. It looks like they’re presenting this as a framework so it should be possible to substitute a different model in.

Re: issues w/ travel plans - I’ve gotten stranded or left SOL before. My general course of action is to just buy a new ticket/room/whatever and file a claim on my credit card. My wife cracked the bumper of a rental. Chase pai

I still get the occasional popup that gets past AdGuard on my phone and tries to add spam to my calendar on my iPhone but it’s definitely a lot better than it used to be. I got one a few months ago that had instructions on installing a cust

I take free USB drives any day. I always test them on the pc that belongs to the coworker that nobody likes first though ;) In all seriousness though - 128gb usb 3.0 drives can be picked up for $10 on sale all day long. Absolutely no reason

Agreed - the last 5 that felt good to drive was the e39, and the rest probably peaked with the e90 or e8x. I felt the same way with the corvette - my c5 was the most fun to drive. C6 was an upgrade in comfort but significantly number, and t

Agreed. I beat my C5 and C6 pretty hard, but aside from (some) of the GM/F cars you’re very limited in choice. Especially if you’re looking for a lightweight sedan.

Public transport and free roaming children are contradictory. Where there is public transport, you won’t want your kids running around. If you want to live somewhere where you can let your children roam with relative safety, it’s going to b
