So this is the books used in an undergraduate liberal arts degree (your degree is IN liberal arts). These are the math tagged books in a quirky bachelors in philosophy degree, essentially. They do not have a math degree (or any degrees asid

I think that if we see hardware specific to a particular model it would be in automotive. And the focus would be on fitting inside a power envelope, not cost in particular. So it still could be that cost of asic + operation will be greater

The best parties I ever went to were when I was in my early teens and my parents were in their late 40s. Massive bonfires, kids running all over playing hide and seek on 20 acres, adults and older teens with impromptu softball games, elabor

It’s certainly highly deceptive, if not exactly fake. Not uncommon for software demos to have a golden path that you must follow of crashes will result, but that’s not a good thing.

Yeah, AI is a perennial topic and neural nets are an old school approach. When I was in school (not really that long ago) the NN textbook taught as an old fashioned approach that never produced good results, and the professor (from the EE d

I think this is a good description. What I missed from some other comments on HN that were complementary to the book is how personal it is. I think people who are already familiar with Oliver would enjoy it best. Some sections were so speci

I think one thing to consider is the requirements. I am guilty of overcomplicating a pretty straightforward high priority process in an embedded project. But when I asked, ok, what jitter is acceptable when driving these pins, the “product

It depends. In my 100 year old home it involved cut a hole in the side of the house, run 2 foot of duct, add hooded vent cover, caulk, done. It was certainly cheaper than the extractor hood/microwave the previous owners installed and f

I agree, seems like largely a boomer trend (my uncle is still pretty good with the fraz approaching 70). Disc golf is growing I think though. I’ve probably had greater peaks of fun just playing catch in the sun, but golf does give you goals

A video call isn’t face to face… I for one prefer actually face to face, then text chat, then voice chat, video chat never. Screen shares are almost always a signal that this call will be a huge waste of time, but I suppose it’s fairly nece

Nah, EV (and new ICE) kias and Hyundais can’t be stolen as easily as the 2014(?) to 2021 models (where the non keyless entry models lack immobilizers and alarms on that little window) Better have a garage though, since if it has a Kia badge

It’s right that most men die before 80, but I agree that if you get there, a high quality of life is still possible. My grandpa in his mid 80s gardens a large area and keeps bees, lives alone, and most impressively to me, fell on ice, got u

Grid means the electrical grid. That’s it, and it’s typically the only utility that is available in rural areas. Many off-grid people don’t have these weird ideological hang ups that HNers project onto them, they simply want to live on land
