Jackass of the Week: John Gruber. Calling Reuters fools by niggling about the technical meaning of 'tax', while conveniently overlooking the clear message of the article. It's unlikely he'd make the same petty comments were it's tone not ta

Pretty sure this guy only wrote the article so he could use that great witty zinger of a headline he'd thought up. Not gonna waste my time reading design critique by someone using an 0.002pt font on their blog.

Read the headline, skip the article and look at the last picture, then scroll back up and read the headline again, particularly the first three words. You're done.

Considering the original snarky wording of their non-apology, I find it highly implausible that it's related to anything but.

One thing I've learned from doing small game dev: We are responsible for our own marketing. I think it is healthy to expect and plan for app stores to give us exactly zero exposure; it leaves much less to chance.

It's almost as if all apple marketing is emotionally targeted bullshit that has no basis on reality whatsoever.

I haven't smoked in several years after doing so consistently and heavily, and I'm much better off for it. My mind is no longer foggy, slow, and as prone to needless diversions. So, no.

I really, really hope that when they make windows software for it, they do the sensible thing and just re-brand the zune player instead of unnecessarily writing something new, because zune is hands down the nicest music software out.

It bothers me that 'starting a new app' is a repetitive enough task that something like this is considered useful. Is this really something anyone ought to be be doing twice a week?

I have no pity for them. They'd have to be terminally ignorant not to realize they were building scumware.

Microsoft have always been awful at marketing. The design of Microsoft stores seems like them admitting so, and trying a "fake it 'til you don't have to" approach.

If encountering one or two bugs is such a seriously debilitating experience for you, I strongly suggest you stop using any software labelled with the word "Beta", or in this case, "Preview" - or any software at all, for that matter.

I think the point of this challenge is to encourage fledgeling developers to learn how to sell their games, and think about the money side of things, instead of treating sales as an afterthought.

I've always felt that way about apple, which is why I've never owned any of their products. If this is how you feel, you'd likely feel better if you did the same.
