You will never legislate away corruption no matter how high the penalty or how onerous the regulations. The goal is to achieve an acceptable level of corruption with minimal interference on the good guys. It actually reminds me of the ques

A very successful CEO told me that contracts were just a formality. If you don't trust the other party to do their end you should not be doing business with them. Sounds like there was a lot of reason not to trust the Fusion Garage guys.

Engineering is not the only story here. They got a lot of attention that they never would have gotten w/o the biggest name in tech news singing their praises from his bully pulpit. Imagine the uphill battle these guys would face trying

I had forgotten all about "Web Shaka" (YouOs). Far and away the most classic name for a company. I hope they are doing well wherever they went.

A major problem is they have refused to publish the raw data they used for their conclusions. One of the emails said something like, "I hope nobody figures out that the Freedom of Information act applies to us." (Britain's FOI act.) I al

Nobody seems to be mentioning that a major source for climate research has made a shameful mockery of the scientific process. Regardless of whether their conclusions are right or wrong, they are doctoring numbers to fit their desired concl

Not to mention that there is a lot more that can be done in that space from an engineering perspective. Files syncing could be just the beginning. What about consumer MVC from files to web services? Edit a photo on iphoto and it automat

No install but in most cases you have to create a login, and the confirmation email often goes to spam. As for power, that all depends on your needs. 3d on the web is still on the weak side of weak. Offline access is still a major issue.

It seems like an odd test to me. Swimming in cold water would test fitness more than ability to handle stress. And since some rats did not exercise they became less fit and would not handle the cold water test as well. Am I missing someth

I totally agree. A company gains nothing by being dismissive. I've interviewed at about 20 companies in the last 10 years, not to mention VC / Angel pitches. Only Google left a foul taste in my mouth. As a CS guy I've had dozens of anal

While I agree with your sentiment on the ineptitude of our politicians, what actually happened was somewhat different. We as voters passed a bunch of propositions that increased spending while limiting the government's ability to tax. If

While I don't like her tone, I listened to her entire response and she seemed to address Arrington's issues pretty effectively. She should heed the advice: "Never pick a fight with people who buy ink by the barrel."

You'd be amazed how much isn't obvious. Your insticts on the technical chess game are probably much better than most on wall st. Read the tech analysis in a top notch investment rag like Barrons. You'll be shocked.

Much of the French spying is economic espionage. Russia doesn't have the money it did during the cold war. But they are very good at getting information from humans. The KGB was easily the best functioning body of the Soviet government.
