Most of the contestants on that show have pretty prestigious backgrounds. They either went to great business schools or started businesses of their own, or both.

WOW, you are selling yourself WAY short. You are more than qualified for an entry level developer job FOR PAY. Its a programmers market out there, if you can communicate half decently and have a java cert from sun, you will be able to find

its probably really hard for any of us to give good advice because there are so many personal factors and each of us has only attended one or maybe 2 colleges so we are all biased. you should just make a list of pros/cons and trust your ins

on demand telephone opinion polling. have a mechanical turk type group calling people over voip... customers submit polls online, charge a few hundred $, promise really quick turnaround, have 'turks' make the calls for less than you charge.

there are a ton of people working at burger king or other restaurants, street vendors, bus ticket attendants, broadway ushers, and busboys that make less than that in nyc Its certainly not impossible. 15$ an hour is pretty good.

490 might be an ok sample, I don't know I've never taken a statistics class I mainly thought that 3 iq points is not a big difference in intelligence, pretty much a wash.
