As someone who knows basically nothing about cryptography - wouldn't training an LLM to work on encrypted data also make that LLM extremely good at breaking that encryption? I assume that doesn't happen? Can someone ELI5 please?

Has anyone considered that it might've just been a novelty? A fancy paperweight? I wonder if, in a couple thousands of years, archeologists will wonder why some people owned a 10x10cm cube of tungsten...

Maybe that wouldn't be the worst thing. Maybe chrome capturing the majority of the iOS market would finally be the proverbial straw that breaks the camel's back and pushes regulators towards forcing Google to sell Chrome.

Holy crap, a local-only app with one-time purchase *and* a free demo? You don't see that very often these days

On my M2 Air: 508ms with caching, 1090ms with `--no-cache` But as others already mentioned, optimizing this seems to be pretty high priority...

While there are definitely physical limits, the core limitation here is greed. They would sell less cards. Same reason why their consumer cards are limited to ridiculously low amounts of VRAM (16GB on an RTX5080, only 8 on the RTX4060, etc)

So is "AI Agents" something the community has settled on or is this a Google-ism? I remember people arguing about this some time ago with no definitive answer.

Slightly off-topic I suppose but is there any open-source music server that supports streaming to AirPlay devices? The only truly functional solution I've seen so far is Roon which is $15 per month or $830 one-off purchase, both of whi

Despite not being mentioned directly, the car is almost certainly manual so in case something like that happens, you can just shift to neutral (or even just press the clutch)

Personally, not many, my main gripe is the whole SSPL rugpull making it effectively not truly open-source anymore...

I'm in no way affiliated with this project, I just think it's neat... Seems like a good alternative for projects that are built on MongoDB but don't like what the company behind it is doing these days...

I never got the appeal of having the AI directly in your editor, I've tried Copilot and whatever JetBrains are calling their assistant and I found it mostly just got in the way. So for me it's no AI in editor and ChatGPT in a brow

Yes and no, depends on what you play. I've been semi-lightweight gaming on my M1 MacBook Pro with some level of success... Games that are optimised to run on Apple Silicon natively mostly run great (No Man's Sky easily pushes 120F

My M1 MacBook Pro (the first one in the new chassis) can easily drive my 250 Ohm DT 990 Pro to uncomfortable loudness so it should indeed be fine for 99% of headphones. I've been told it also drives 600 Ohm headphones just fine.
