Because it is irrelevant. The concentration of power is one thing, but the complaints here are against the shameless rent-seeking. Open access publishing would not take away from anything the OP is extolling the values of.

How interesting. I learned of the fungus just a few days ago when I found it on a houseplant of mine. That's a fun connection. The fungus looks a lot like pest eggs, so it was a relative relief to discover.

Snitch doesn't sound like beach, sheep, cheat. I'm not sure how to approximate snitch in French, maybe you can't. The Google card that comes up if you search "snitch pronunciation" is right though.

This is a classic mixup in Excel/spreadsheet tools too, as they'll often assume any pasted numerical IDs are ints and "helpfully" strip the leading zeroes.
