so in other words, XBT behaved exactly as you expected XAU would in the same situation, yet somehow to you that reflects badly on XBT but not on XAU.

What do you think would happen to the XAU/CNY rate if China announced that gold was no longer accepted in banks?

I undestand (and somewhat agree with) your reaction - but only if the photos/videos are anonymous. I don't like the idea of someone getting off to pictures of me, but so long as it's completely disassociated from my real life

I'm not sure escrow services exist (yet). I don't know how exchanges work, having only bought on bitbargain, and never sold.

I was with you until the final sentence, which makes you sound emotionally involved rather than putting forward a logical argument. That aside, let me retort; > Its supposed to be easy but it isnt I agree, and I'll be hugely surpris

> Why pay transaction fees to an exchange if ... Because you want to support bitcoin. If you don't want to pay with bitcoin, don't. If you do want to support bitcoin but don't want to erode your savings, then do this.

This question comes up frequently. The best thing to do if you want to buy something for $500, is buy $500 in bitcoin and then pay with bitcoin. This way your 'stash' isn't eroded and you contribute to the bitcoin economy.

Are these polls typically good indicators of TIME's official choice? Or is this going to be a way of making Snowden "the people's POY" without TIME officially making it so?

No, I'm saying that when people realised that there is a hypothetical attack that undermines bitcoin, if you have 51% of the power, that realisation didn't kill bitcoin.

It is not smooth at all: https://bitbargain.co.uk/trade-bitcoins-app Not to mention the 0.4XBT non refundable seller application fee. For a one-off "I want to cash out" use case this is completely unworkable.
