The sales pitch: It's permissionless, but also has baked in compliance. These two things are not compatible. Stripe must comply with US regulation, they aren't going to launch a financial network that is actually permissionless.

The article says that it belonged to a species of deer called “wapiti”. Since I never heard of it, I looked it up and it’s just an elk. Why didn’t the article just say “elk” which is the much more common term?

One really cool feature of the quick copy mode is that if you do the uppercase version of the letters it will automatically paste the value back into the terminal prompt.

This is good advice. Happiness is found through purpose, not hedonistic pursuit of abstract happiness for its own sake. Family is the ultimate purpose, but if not family then find a way to contribute to the greater world: Start a business a

It definitely hurts those who hold debt. Maybe you're thinking of borrowers? Certainly debt holders are very damaged by inflation, too. Especially long term debt holders (such as the previously mentioned pensions/retirement accoun

Persistently high inflation and economic decline, plus geopolitical blunders, leading toward US treasuries beginning to lose their status as global reserve asset and precipitating a US debt crisis.

Probably, but by far the most likely scenario is a decade or more of persistently high inflation as bondholders (i.e. your pensions and retirement accounts) and normal people are pick-pocketed to bring down the nominal debt load.

Do you mean how long this system can last for the world, or for the US? I would be surprised if this system lasted 15 more years in the US.

I can't wait for this to take seven years to resolve, with the resolution being that the US government gets a big payday in bribes (er, sorry, fines) and nothing actually changes.

Hysterics will spend all day talking about what a liar Trump is right up until the moment he says something he's going to do that they think is bad, then all of a sudden he's telling the absolute truth. Trump lies, postures, hyper

This ridiculous hysteria serves no purpose. People said all these same things before his first election, and if anything Trump just accelerated aggression with Russia, just like every president before him and Biden after him.
