FWIW, I don't think the US has much to fear. I'm working under the assumption that the US will keep their dominant position in tech, culture, and economy for at least the next 5 years. I have followed CN's gov dropping 340 BN

For a (better, IMO) light editor based on scintilla, try textadept. Full of awesome. As hackable as vim and emacs, but in lua. Sane defaults. Also terminal version.
