I must point out Alipay (and the like; I’ll just mention Alipay from now on for brevity) is not built to circumvent credit cards, in that there is nothing to circumvent. There is literally no way to pay except cash before Alipay; credit car

Charge them, or install some kind of time limiting then. Cafes here either charge at least $5 for a coffee (note that wage in Taiwan is about half than the US), or would ask you to leave if you stay for 2 hours (they will tell you first, of

I’m somewhat surprised by the article. There is recently a giant indi cafe boom in Taipei that made it one of the most developed cafe city in Asia, but almost all well-regarded shops do everything they could to keep the place as quiet as p

I thought this is the famous Markdown parser by Vicent Martí. [1] It was the most popular Markdown implementation before CommonMark, and is used by GitHub (via RedCarpet, its Ruby binding) before they switch to CommonMark a while ago. The n

You are right on point. There is actually a small section in documentation about this, but I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested and didn’t put in much effort. Now I know there is! [edit: docs updated] Anaconda was my tool of choice f

I fail to see how this email address does not qualify as common sense valid though. Maybe it’s just me being surrounded by tech-saavy people, but I have a bunch of friends using emails like i@domain.com and me@name.com.

AFAIK cleaning fees are upfront. I host on Airbnb and have never seen an option to charge extra for the mess left behind by guests.

And let the web view suck away my RAM like a leech? No thank you. This might be a good suggestion if Chromium does not manage memory usage so poorly.

Author of MacDown ( https://macdown.uranusjr.com ) here. The most privelant reason I'm not doing it is indeed the price tag. I do not do macOS or iOS app dev for a living, and paying $99 a year for next to no return is ridicu

Or they just parse the URL differently. One possibility is to treat mit.edu as equivalent to www.mit.edu, and web.mit.edu to www.web.mit.edu. This is how I did it when I was a kid (and knew absolutely nothing about programming etc.)

Unfortunate indeed. I get that making things work well on both desktop on mobile is difficult (if not impossible), but at least the UI should be somehow usable. The nav works so poorly on my phone I can’t even browse all the pages on the si

Don't want this to sound like bashing, but the website doesn't work very well on mobile (hover and active states act weirdly, menu very clumbersome, etc.), and I assume the same can be said about the toolkit. Hopefully this is an

A lot of older parts in Python inherit the naming style common in C, which always seems to me they have OCD to shorten everything, e.g. ls for list, mk for make. Newer Python parts are more “healthy” in this regard. But this also results in

I know very little Russian and can’t say for certain, but I think Russian is similar to English in these consonants. I should make it clear I don’t think Pinyin is a bad system, only that it does not map sounds to European languages well. A
