Unlike TextSecure, RedPhone is a bit rough as it hasn't been updated in a while. If someone wants encrypted calls today it does the job but it will soon be merged into TextSecure (guessing the name will change to Signal like on iOS).

The answer is forward secrecy. If an attacker were to record all of a target’s ciphertext traffic over some extended period of time, and then compromise that one key at any point in the future (perhaps by seizing the device it’s on), they
