Another dev who doesn’t show respect to what has been done and expect a particular language will do wonders for him. Also I don’t see this is much better in term of readability.

Yeah, just because you can grab from your refrigerator a piece of raw meat and put it in a cup of milk in 10 secs and it tastes bad doesn’t mean the refrigerator should be blamed because of this.

Why would someone want to learn Unix Programming using OCAML? Not a smart choice. Also this does not look easier to read than a shell script either. let rec copy_rec source dest = let infos = lstat source in match infos.st_kind with |

Even agree with most of the stuff he said, however in real life, you won't be able to win a fight using these arguments. You can only create a environment to execute these strategies first to get a good product and them use them as a p

Even GPL never seems to be great idea to me. But at least it considers a core problem of any knowledge sharing seriously. Can you just steal other people’s work? I would rather trust GPL folks than this guy.

Yeah, “rewrite in rust” strikes again, this time equipped with a AI slop generator.

Rust is a very very ugly language, this is made worse when it is shamelessly promoted by bunch of persistent people with bad tastes. Also trying to fight runtime behavior with compile time constraints cannot be a universal treatment. Trying

It is a good thing many people do not know it. Since if you need this to squeeze that little performance window, you’d better know what you are doing.

It is actually a bad design when compiler go this far into a micro optimization but assume it understands the context so it can make decisions for you.

AI coding is fundamentally bad for open source, especially for larger ones, making it free just make the things worse.

Because OP obviously downplayed this important fact, which typically shows lower quality/less tested code.

"rewrite" a nice code base without mentioning it is vibe coded is not great. Essentially you use AI to somehow re-implement the original code base in a different language, made it somehow work, and claim it is xx times faster. It

Of course it won’t help. If you have an audit target to meet you want target meta? This exactly why ICE agents tends to target illegal immigrants that actually get a job and contribute to the society instead of criminals. Because the former

The windows has passed already for this kind of opportunities since there are dozen of people all doing the same thing. Also abusing object storage is not very fun.

It will be very naive to believe adding IRS staff will help with that. It is far easier to audit W2 employees than dealing with mega corporations.

When a language starts to do this kind of thing, you know it isn’t going to replace C.

This is one of those “demo” that no serious people will use it, no other people will want to improve it ( because I can also use ai to generate one myself). It is just useful to show how “good” it is.

This is not an area an open source will work. Particularly your main target is on cloud customers. If you are confident with your work, you should not open your source because that’s the single leverage you have.

When I am already using things like io_uring already I don’t need any io abstraction. BTW most of applications is totally fine with a UNIX file apis.
