if you disable cow, you also disable checksumming, so they are kinda linked

with cow is still slower than zfs. It still uses lzo for compression whereas zfs uses lz4, which is 10x faster for decompression.

Aoe2 has got a couple of expansions that added more factions, however from my perspective I don't really look for more content in updates as much as better features... Spectating a game in aoe2 is a joke and watching the casters strugg

this is a very lenghty way of saying program top-down, not bottom-up, unless your are targeting the metal :)

Gigabyte mobos say you can use ecc memory but not run them in ecc mode. "Support for ECC Un-buffered DIMM 1Rx8/2Rx8 memory modules (operate in non-ECC mode)"

if you focus on the y axis and ignore the x axis then it kinda of makes sense, mostly because the adoption trend is not related to the lifetime of the subject in this case, like it can be for programming languages and the likes.

Core count seems also to be partially fall into the classic chickenegg problem. Intel has shown no interest in increasing core count below enthusiast grade segment. Most people buy max quad cores because that's what Intel offers, games

I am pretty sure after six iterations of "more of the same" most people realized this by now, we didn't need amd to know this, but surely to change the status quo in the cpu market...

But how many more? If its just pet servers k8s is still not worth it, despite it having statefulsets since 1.5. K8s is mostly for cattle, and pets when you need them, imho.

I think federation allows to scale horizontally above the limitation of a single etcd cluster. OTOH The fact that zk/etcd/consul are all leader-based is probably the reason flynn "simply" uses postgres

If you do any substantial overclock, meaning you are going to do a little bit of over voltage, the presence or lack of XFR matters little, and you are definitely going to go above turbo core freqs. XFR is going to be a nice-to-have uncondit

I wouldn't call it clunky and slow, it is just meant to be used from a tv. It's like saying steam big picture mode is clunky if you use it with mouse and keyboard. Kodi has a good api, although there are no good web interfaces yet
