I spent many years of my life working on websites that used ads as a monetization method. I've spent thousands of hours working on projects where the intention is to "show more ads" or "implement more effective ads"

I have no problem with "utm" parameters. They're static and not personal to you. You can see them.

The article says that current ad blocking extensions stops the request from even being made to the ad server, while the new version of Chrome will remove the ability for a plug in to stop a web request. Seems like a pretty major change to m

Is there a single city anywhere in the world where "Uber" is the only option for transportation? There are cities without Uber. But I can't think of a city that has no taxis and only has Uber...

You have the right to loudly talk on the phone, and they have the right to rate you lower. It's a fair system in that way.

It can't be the quantity of conversation that matters. Drivers probably enjoy a quiet ride as much as passengers do. More likely it's whether you kept them waiting, treated their car nice, how long the trip was, and how polite you

Tell your girlfriend that Uber drivers might lose their job if they drop to a 4.6 star average. 3 seems savage for a good ride. "If your rating over the most recent 100 trips is below a 4.6, your profile may be at risk of deactivation.

So instead of sending the data to Google encrypted for them to analyze, it analyzes the data on your device and sends that data to Google encrypted for them to combine the results. But your data still gets sent to Google. I don't see t

Talented and ambitious people would hate being in a labor union. It's a place where doing more than what is expected is actively shunned, and knowing how little work you can do is the optimization.

There's brand recognition. And then there's brand loyalty. Uber has a lot of recognition, but not necessarily loyalty.

Uber and Lyft have "network effects"? How? Explain that. I couldn't tell you what car sharing service any of my friends use. When I was in Malta earlier this year, there was no Uber. I downloaded an app called Taxify while si

The Facebook IPO broke the stock market. Literally broke it. They had to stop trading it for a while. That affected the stock.

Yes, same with me. Sometimes I would accept. And sometimes I would not. Sometimes this conversation happened during the original job interview. "Would you consider going full time ever?" Good to have that conversation sometimes.

I will say too, I bought a brand new $100 luggage, and the second time I used it, the airline damaged it. Tore a small hole in it. I am not sure about losing luggage, but they damage them more often than that.

A friend of mine just recently lost his carry on because he forgot it on the plane. The airline can't find it now. So it's not impossible. It's just more in your control to lose it.

Not sure if you're joking, but the airlines have a long long history of bankruptcy... Even American Airlines declared bankruptcy in 2011 and emerged from it in 2013... Delta in 2005. United in 2002. [0] http://airlines.org&#
