Just curious, how on earth did Kevin and Amir get such incredibly detailed of AWS spending of these accounts. Either they put it together from public resources, or (more worrysome) someone at AWS leaked them line-item based expenses of thei

I'm seeing a lot of comments claiming this claim can't be trusted because there's no useful computation being done. There are many competing proposals to test for quantum supremacy: Boson Sampling, Fourier Sampling, IQP, Rand

This is not a one-off. This is a general purpose computer with general purpose gates. Verifying the correctness of the RCS is nontrivial.

by united893 7y ago
Sorry but no. The poster is taking a simplistic view of things. Random circuit sampling is a generally accepted method of establishing quantum supremacy. See this paper from Dr. Vazirani (Berkeley) saying as much https://arxiv.or

That's not the source. That article merely rehashes the AG PR[1] and doc [2] from 2018. This article just discusses preparations for the opening arguments due to commence. [1] - https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/ag-u

Actually looks like she worked for Amazon on S3. So there might have been some insider knowledge. From the complaint below, and googling her name you can find her resume I won't link it here, but here's a screenshot of a snippet:

Can someone help me understand the engineering and economics of distributing energy from a fusion plan? Let's assume that in 2035 ITER reaches its goal and can sustain fusion at a cost of ~$25B per plant w/ $1B in yearly operation

This is generally terrible advice. A better option is to 'set -e' and ensure that the bash script exits when there's a failure. Bash scripts can't be idempotent because they operate in an external environment that can&#x

Can't tell if MegaButts (parent comment) is being facetious, but to answer: No, it's very unlikely that Ruth would sell off Waymo. The company is at the forefront when compared on actual technical merit. They've got the lowes

You don't need advanced math to answer this question. If there's no activation function then all the weights in each layer can be multiplied together and the whole network is just a linear classifier.

Apologies for being pedantic, but nearly 90% of the world's population lives in the Northern Hemisphere, which also holds most of the land as well. I'd say they're only 10% off

Nope this one is different, and it will go to the Supreme Court. The plaintiffs are two of the most successful and feared law firms. They've won billion dollar judgements against Apple, Toyota, etc. MLS is a racket, and I wish them the

Brilliant strategy on Apple's part -- picking a fight with Facebook and Google (banning them for a few hours) to generate global headlines while leaving dozens of other companies off the hook for sideloading their to their non-employee

by united893 8y ago
That's fair, but Doordash, Square and Instacart don't have that ability either. They're distributing their apps via the same sideloading mechanism.

by united893 8y ago
Sure, fair point. But Facebook paid as well. If Facebook starts paying them via 1099, would that be fair?

by united893 8y ago
What's the line however? It's a bit blurry. If Google and Facebook starts paying their panelists using a 1099 that would be fine?

It was a reasonable ballpark. Let's say a city prosecutor was working on a organized crime case that involves the FBI and other people. Based on timing of emails this would leak the list of people working on the case, maybe informants

by united893 8y ago
I find the writer to be a bit of a dick in his responses. Yes, the city IT may not be at the same level as Google engineers, but there’s no need to mock their ballpark estimates, and after the mistake there’s no need to be a jerk about it.
