I could see it being wonderful to talk with someone face-to-face who lives far away, and I know this is a site for hackers, but what is so appealing about a "metaverse" vs a phone or video call? It sounds very unpleasant to me to

I wrote something to do this that I believe to be superior and have been quite happy with so far: https://github.com/pnovotnak/ohm It was inspired by the HN anti-procrastination feature.

Definitely frustrating. I wonder how hard it'd be to add. The English TTS is not great compared with anything else I've tried, but it's serviceable

Wow, Windy Maps is _beautiful_. Yes, goes to show that OSMAnd has lots of warts but it's extremely featureful. With OSMAnd you have to make a significant investment in UI customization. It won't really get prettier but it will sta

Try OSMAnd. I started using it because it allows you to download huge areas as vector maps for offline use. But I find myself slowly using it more and more. The only things missing that keep me using gmaps are search, reviews / places,

Decent piece. Always glad to see people thinking about infra... IMO refactoring American public spaces will be a key part of remaining relevant on the world stage. I personally hope ebikes come to fill a space between cars and bikes. My dre

Better question: Why are all aftermarket car alarms crap with crap apps? There is definitely an opportunity here to make something that doesn't suck. If you added a couple of cameras and used ML I think you could build a much better pr

I have had the original DPT-S1 since 2015. I got it before starting school and have used it for textbooks throughout. Weighs a few pounds less than any textbook, let alone all my textbooks. For this it is amazing. For handwriting... Not so
