Earlier events already had us slowly switching out docker for pod man, and the tooling is more similar than I had expected. Half of the work is ensuring the images are explicitly prefixed with docker.io/ And this week it turns out that

It sounds like quite an engineering challenge and a lot of ground to excavate to store a significant amount of water. Geothermic energy and CO2 storage sound a lot more useful if you’re going to dig that much

ASCII is a subset of UTF-8. It’s time for all tools and paths to just assume UTF-8 encoding. Most tasks assuming ASCII work fine on UTF-8 too (eg sorting). We do need to get rid of those byte order marks though, it breaks eg concatenation

I find it useful to link tightly coupled front and backends where scalability/load balancers aren’t a great concern and the API isn’t intended to be public. Otherwise I’d go for REST and openapi Lately I’ve been experimenting with usin

An 'old' settings dialog in Windows is usually to support old drivers who still want/need to extend that dialog with driver specific options. You will probably still see it in the network settings too if you dig deep enough

I don't know if this happens in The Netherlands, but if they forced your phone to receive NL Alerts it would seem very reasonable to me. Only the government issues those. I've understood cell broadcasts are also used for advertise

You can't easily use that with a plain* CDN though - you would need to add a Vary: Accept header and cache misses will increase as every variant of Accept: will cache a different version * it seems fixable with things like Lambda@Edge

gsutil hardly ever finished when trying to download a couple-hundred google workspace takeout, preferring to consume all available memory instead - so that's a pretty easy thing to beat. does it outperform rclone?

For that to work you won't even need a database in the user's browser - you could just store an encryption key as a cookie today which you use to encrypt all your serverside data when the user logs in The real problem is how you d

Always read the small print on these cheap providers, check for outbound data limits or minimum retention times Also rsync has a cheaper plan if you eg only need a borg remote. We use them and borgbase.
