I’m surprised this article is so upvoted. 1. The author took this nearly word for word from Thiel/Eric Weinstein, who have both discussed this point extensively, most recently on Weinstein’s podcast. 2. The author is using this click b

Why would you assume adult workers don’t care about Bitcoin? I follow “crypto twitter” a bit and there are certainly a decent number of adult workers that are interested in it. Most understand the benefits for an industry that is in a legal

I mean key word “generally”? I’m not suggesting that there’s a team of employees watching you every time you pick up a prescription, but of course they could access an individual claim if there was a legitimate reason to. Not sure why it’s

Most companies use third party administrators to do the day to day management, but that doesn’t mean people in HR or Finance can’t access data on individual claims if there was a reason to. If an employee used $1M in healthcare believe me y

Most companies use a Third Party Administrator (TPA) for the actual back office claims management. That doesn’t mean people in HR and Finance don’t have visibility into claims data.

It’s actually pretty shocking how few people seem to realize this about large employers...this is clearly not well understood at all.

Yes they do if they are self insured, meaning they are literally the insurance company taking on the risk. This is the norm for large companies.

Self insured is definitely the norm for large companies in the US.

They can access individual claims because they themselves are the insurer. Claims have medical codes that map to treatments, diseases, prescriptions, doctor visits, etc. That’s what I mean by visibility.

It’s a lesser of two evils thing. Personally I find it creepier for a private employer to have that data than a (non-authoritarian) gov’t.

I mean claims data, which is arguably a good record of your present health care intersections while employed at that company. They definitely have access to it.

Claims are a pretty solid proxy for health care interactions. That’s what I mean.

Anyone else find it strange in the US with the self-insured health care plans (the norm with large companies) your company has complete visibility into every health care interaction you have while employed through claims data?

Have no idea what your point it. You’re suggesting this is a backend change, meaning that Facebook is going to stop tracking like count, but all they are doing is hiding it in the app. Users can still see their own like count.

If I understand it correctly, the user bought stock in a company (in this case $F) and then sold deep in the money call options, which is returned to your account as cash which is being mistakenly calculated as additional buying power. He t

I think all this talk about Facebook and paid political ads missing the key problem I have with ads-based businesses and that is there are certain things you just shouldn’t be able to target ads to people with, including health information.
