Both C&C and PoP are about 20 years old. If you consider the copyright terms that most pirate parties are advocating, this IP would be in the public domain already. The PoP franchise is owned by Ubisoft now, so you really can't make the

Is clang getting more popular because it is superior, or because its license encouraged commercial interests to invest into it? Also, you seem to equate a permissive license with 'lock and key'. My experience is the exact opposite, having r

The argument ignores that GPL is a giant stink eye for many people. It deters people from wanting to make enhancements in the first place... there's no point in having rights to enhancements that are not being made. It doesn't matter if tec

The only reason Linux being GPL is not a big hindrance is because most people use it as a black box to run independent code on. The barrier between GPL and non-GPLd code matches neatly with "stuff we'll never touch". With most software, bei

The point is that at high DPI, the "serious fuzzing" is much less noticeable for a variety of images. A retina screen has 4x the amount of pixels. Which means the 2x2 undersampled color errors are probably below our perception threshold. Es

A lot of people are underestimating what this stuff can be used for, IMO. It goes far beyond traditional games. I myself have been doing a lot of work with WebGL-driven articles [1]. With nothing more than nginx and Jekyll, I have an incred

Actually, in a Retina world, it is often better to use a low quality JPEG at high res, than a high quality PNG at low res.

Oddly enough, it works fine if you open the iframe in a new tab. I think it may just be Firefox denying my admittedly greedy requests for video memory.

Sigh, every time my site hits hacker news or reddit I have to mention this... it's a Webkit bug. I reported it 5 releases ago, it sits unloved and unfixed. I imagine i'll just redo the site before they address it.

By that point, the grid has been rotated 90 degrees, with the real axis on top. This is mentioned in the notes. I did this because it fits the letterbox layout more in the later transitions. Edit: I changed it so this is made obvious.

The namespacing is indeed ugly. HTML's current tag soup might be legacy filled, but we haven't replaced it because it's convenient to have short memorable tags for these things. XML namespaces failed in this, never letting you mix two names

Indeed. How fucking shallow and sexist is it to expect your partner to shell out thousands of dollars on a useless piece of carbon that literally becomes worthless as soon as it's sold? And I bet these people are all about "gender equality"

If you focus on 'diversity', you miss the bigger picture, because of course every place is unique. The US has for example far more pronounced extremes of urban vs rural (which many too forget). The real issue is distance, and how Europeans
