Aside: can someone explain to me how IPFS, in this specific case, is any better than a typical 3rd party service storing the data? The linked announcement says they use a pinning service “web3.storage”. Web3.storage says it stores data on F

Don’t ban crypto, regulate it like the security it is. But stay the hell away from my Bitcoin.

Do you have a tldr? I see its stated technical goal of maintaining a small blockchain, but what’s it for? It has a token so is it meant to be money? Is it a web3 app chain? The fact that there was an initial presale makes it sound like a pr

Bitcoin is boring. It’s a decentralized ledger. It’s effectively the missing protocol for money on IP. Everything else is a security, by definition.

ETH had an unfair issuance and is (by design!) centralized with a CEO. It couldnt be further from Bitcoin at this point.

Strongly disagree. Anybody in any crypto token other than Bitcoin at this point has low credibility. Every other chain and project is sacrificing decentralization for short term gain. They’re at best naive and at worst scammers.

Swan provides a marketplace for buying and selling Bitcoin and Bitcoin only. So yeah, I’d agree with the quote.

Just wait until you decide you need some kind of distributed transaction support across multiple microservices… You should aim to spend a considerable amount of time in the design and discovery phases.

We will see Bitcoin lightning payments accepted at major retailers in the US, via Square or Strike.

I honestly can’t tell if this is satire. Fiat is stable in so far as the number doesn’t change, but good luck with that purchasing power. Bitcoin is a scarce commodity with no issuer. It cannot be counterfeited on the whim of a small group.

I feel sorry for the retail investors caught up in yet another crypto scam. Let me try to articulate my view of what’s actually going on with these seemingly endless scams, in hopes of saving future retail investors some pain: Prominent ven

_Well known tech guy thinks blockchain is dumb because he can’t see its value for a private company._ There’s nothing new here. No, a blockchain isn’t a good replacement for a traditional database. It’s a distributed append only database bu

In all reality vitalik’s roadmap is the official roadmap. It’s clearly being followed. There is not much difference between a traditional tech company and Ethereum. Meanwhile Bitcoin has been code complete since the whitepaper was released.

Ethereum is almost definitely a security. It had an unfair issuance and is controlled and influenced by a small group. I mean it has a roadmap by vitalik!

Bitcoin is a scarce asset, there will only ever be 21M. So based on the number of people on the planet and Bitcoin’s growing adoption with both individual and institutional investors, I’d say the fundamentals look pretty good.
