Yes, absolutely! Working on that next. How do we notify you when it's ready? You can email me hana [at] magicbell.io and I'll email you just once when it's ready.

Hey HN! We made a chrome extension to notify you of new comments on your stories and comments. Once installed, it adds a bell to HN's header and shows new notifications in real-time. Clicking on the bell loads a notification inbox with

You can use (as you guessed) an `userExternalId` - https://developer.magicbell.io/docs/browser-js#identifying-u... . That's how we built our HN Chrome extension that never asks for your email - https://c

We handle state changes (and sync them real-time). We'll get to rate limiting and other features you mentioned in the coming months. We have a pretty extensive roadmap and would love to keep you posted - @magicbell_io.

That's a fair point. We need to setup some examples with mock API calls so we can offer a consistent state to all new visitors. In the meantime, here is a quick demo - https://codesandbox.io/s/elastic-northcutt-9pc

It certainly looks deceptively simple. Once you factor in real-time updates with multi-device sync, things start to get challenging pretty fast. Also, that's 2,000 monthly active users. Happy to discuss on twitter @unamashana

That's right! I completely forgot about the AWS/GCP credits. Even in a realistic usage scenario, that's adding 25 - 50k to your funding over a couple of years. The legal fees waiver for upto 10k is another one.

They try to minimize the distractions (and they recommend you do too). Personally, I like being distracted a bit and mingling so it worked out just fine for me. Other than the group office hours, they don't insist you attend anything u

I probably didn't do a good job in listing down all the benefits. I skipped the biggest one - the YC network. It's an amazing network that's ready to adopt new products as well as invest in them. YC also gives you a lot credi

Congrats on the launch! I live with two cats and sadly I am allergic to cats. It's not super bad but certainly noticeable. Will your treatment work for people like me?

Edited the doc to remove the bit about this scenario being unlikely. We take security very seriously and would be happy to get feedback on the new copy (or any other aspect of MagicBell).

I agree that this can be worded better and we will certainly do so. Thank you for your feedback. It's fairly common to see this pattern of HMAC off by default (ex: Intercom) to help people test their embed. Atleast at the moment we are

There are two ways to handle that. One is to use your external ID, if they are UUID or something random. That's security by obscurity. The other (and better way) is to initialize the embed with an HMAC generated on your backend using t

Thanks Troy! Love the integration. Quick feedback: We also accept an external_id apart from email. This is the ID of the user in our customers' database. Can you please add support for that?

This is really good feedback. 1. We are going to remove Mobx. It will also reduce the learning curve for our customers. This change won't affect our API and will be fully backward compatible. We are considering Valtio as an alternative

Thanks for the feedback. We keep track of all the feedback on the pricing. There are a couple of reasons to price based on the MAU. Unlike services like Sendgrid that route an email and then forget about it, we have to maintain a persistent

Thanks for catching that typo. Pushing up a fix now. We see traction with early and later-stage companies, but the bigger orgs take their time to launch since they usually need buy-ins from at least a few people - developers, designers, and

You are right that there are many marketing automation systems for sending emails or push notifications. We are focused on product notifications specific to a user's workflow. The API reflects that and, so does the design of the inbox.
