The problem is that the boss needs a way to tell if that help is falling on deaf ears. If the help isn't having a sufficiently positive effect, then you have someone who is not qualified to do the work. Is the boss really interested in ma

Does Alzheimer's run in your family? My mom drinks at least 3 big cups of tea daily. There's no way she doesn't have Alzheimer's or some other form of dementia. Although her mother had Alzheimer's also, so maybe caffeine isn't enough to o

The proof of the education shouldn't be passing some test or getting a certificate, it should be that you'll be required to use that knowledge in your job. If you "completed" the education and aren't able to do the work that requires it, t

I didn't know that this had something to do with Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I honestly thought it was about Towelie from South Park.

I'd take the headphones off if I could close a door or, even better, work from home. Otherwise, I can guarantee there will be several times each day where a bunch of coworkers (and sometimes my boss) will spend considerable time talking lo

How about when the good tools are free (as far as money), but your boss doesn't want to use them because that would require him (as well as co-workers) to learn something new? My current employer still uses CVS. No one really uses it prope

I wasn't at the meeting. I could have gone, but decided not to. The only reason I can find for the OP to explicitly call out Yehuda is so that maybe he'll actually read the article and consider the advice it contains. If the article's int

I haven't played bughouse since college. Spent way too much time during freshman and sophomore years playing chess and bughouse. Those guys wasted too much time pushing pawns. When you play with/against good players, you learn not to move

The Steelers have enough Super Bowl titles already. Why not help your brethren on the other side of the state? The Eagles still haven't won one (and have only been to two). You'd be a permanent legend here. :)

What about the ability to look at API responses in a browser? You can't normally change the request headers a browser sends without some type of plugin. Including the version number in the URL gets around this and even allows you to test A

You don't have to sell the TV, just don't watch movies on it. The harder part, is getting non-tech people to join your boycott. Good luck trying to tell people not to see the new Batman movie when it comes out. What would be good to know i

A lot of these Java-based portals have plenty of open standards. A lot of JSR-### compliance. From my perspective as a developer, I don't use the document sharing or publishing features of Liferay. My focus is on the portlet development.
