I would like to point out that the lighting network isn't "less secure", it's cryptographicly sound. It is less secure in the sense that you need to keep your lighting node online all the time, but this can be solved w

I would imagine gambling sites would get a lot of chargebacks. Consider a user that transfers money to the site and loses it all. That user might initiate a chargeback to get their money back.

It's been happening on social media sites too, so it's not just isolated to banking. It seems to be a political trend to censor non-politically correct things.

If starlink allows roaming high speed internet, then I would be willing to pay for that instead of a fiber line.

Some of us see work as the meaning of life. Traveling and doing things just for the experience alone seems kind of meaningless. Great for vacation, but not great for long term goals. Perhaps if you're at a dead end job, then work mig

In many cases, being logically correct is more important than being politically correct. For example: It may be politically correct to drive down a bad neighborhood in the middle of the night, but it isn't logically correct.

Just imagine how far ahead the other industries would be if we handled patent and trademark law like we do in the software industry.

Do you really expect a place like California to reduce regulations? Their solution is a new regulation!

To be fair, football and basketball coaches bring in more money to the school. Paying a teacher more doesn't necessarily equate to more money in the school's pocket.

With all the complaints against Youtube, I don't know how they can still be so out of touch with everyone. It's almost as if they're doing it deliberately. They're begging for competition to take over their unprofitable

Imagine turning a wall into a mirror. Essentially, it uses a laser beam and fancy math to see around a corner, similar to looking at a mirror.

I draw the line at compelled speech. I don't want to have to remember your "pronoun" in order to have a regular conversation with you. At some point the politeness of inclusivity pervades upon the efficiency of getting your j

It won't. Unless Facebook decides to ditch KYC and compete with government currencies themselves, it won't help anyone.

Facebook Token won't last. There is too much governmental interest in regulating/destroying it. Only a currency that works regardless of governments and regulations will survive. Something like Bitcoin, Ethereum, ect.

In terms of a software development, laws/licences requiring maximum workweek hours is kind of pointless. If any company forces their employees to work in those kinds of conditions, they're going to get poor results, and their cust

How so? In our case, the police are the good people you describe. The question is, would there be more net good people with access to guns, when placed everywhere, or more bad people? It's a thought experiment.

Guns placed like fire alarms (Break glass for gun)? While it may sound absurd, it does follow the principle that there are more good people than bad. If one bad apple arises, finding the next gun to neutralize said apple would be pretty eas
