Combined world governments going after miners is the best thing could happen to Bitcoin. Difficulty would drop allowing people to mine from general purpose computers again, which is a huge incentive. Then things will scale up again. The too

SMTP is among the things I wouldn't self host. Chances are your entire ISP is already blacklisted for some reason and mail ports are blocked. You'd have to create a relay host on some cloud provider and secure it to avoid having a

Also not parent poster but I got into the homelab fever and back it, I just have a very beefy desktop where I run thousands of services on it. Its not like one of these people are running a critical enterprise operation in their living room

I got it running relatively easy. Lots of client functionality from Element do not work and the shared secret request between devices timeouts. I also find hard to debug because of all the errors related to broken federated servers. One thi

Sadly 4GB is all I have. On the other hand, I was expecting the bridges to me more like Bitlbee which maps personal accounts to IRC rooms. Matrix bridges seem to be more like syncing the content of a room to another.

Ironically this move finally made me to consider Matrix. I'm thinking about spinning a server on a non FAANG provider like Vultr or Linode and setting IM services bridges from there. Nowadays I use lots of different communicators to ta

You are right. I was thinking Hypervisor Framework and its usage by Parallels Desktop Lite from the App Store. Lite version doesn’t require additional drivers and bridge adapters. It runs on top of Hypervisor Framework.

This is cool. Definitely going to test it. Years ago I’ve looked into something like this but found only find xhyve which looked a bit crude. Ended using Parallels Desktop Lite which to my understanding is a GUI to VF. Used to be free for L

Thanks! Using Ansible sounds like a great idea, specially when it allows me to also match installed packages! Would be great if I could combine with a local secrets engine. Like Hashicorp Vault but local.

Kinda derailing the thread but might ask anyway, does anyone got recommendations on dot files synchronization through personal devices? I'm currently using a git+ss repo on a personal server. I wonder if there are more convenient ways

Apparently it was but that doesn't justify the harassment described in the article. Hate mail and stuff like that. I guess people got too emotional and both parties ended up with a bad taste in their mouths.

I heard Russian missiles in Kaliningrad can reach any place in Poland and Lithuania. I wonder how did they managed to keep that piece of land surrounded by ex-soviet republics that are basically not very fond of Russia to say the least.

Anyone remembers Novel NSS? Even when it got ported to Linux as part of Open Enterprise Server it lacked a lot of POSIX features. The ACLs were the weirdest part since they had to be configured in eDirectory’s LDAP console.
