I definitely felt a lot better when entering California, where they're required to stay on the right lane, and not to pass cars, than when I was going through El Paso, and my mom and I were almost killed by two passing trucks who swerved in

Yeah, I really hated those parts. The author calls them angels, but he also says to call it what you will, (talent, instinct, genies, blegh). It's worth reading, though, skipping the metaphysical parts as you would with Epitectus.

You're right, of course. There's a good book called "The War of Art" that I recommend to the OP, which is precisely about this.

I'm correcting you, that's all. How can you say you're neutral and then present only one side?

No, it wasn't when the inquisition came, it was in response to the airbnb post. We've gone through this already, llambda. http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2823714 .

No, and neither did this guy, Troy, who also called airbnb. I don't think its a good idea to counter with more speculation.

It's just another assumption. But again, what makes you think there's a lawyer involved too?

We can go on forever about possible interpretations, but all those quotations are making you look bad. What proof do you have that EJ is "EJ", and that Troy is "Troy" and that this is a "conspiracy" and were an "angry mob of white knights"?

For better integration with an issue tracker, and because a master branch should have a formal commit history. I make tons of little commits on a local branch with messages such as "reformat styles", "whoops, fixed typos", "fixed the query"

Witch hunt? Who are we, the angry mob of white-knights, burning? I don't think anyone has taken extreme measures to persecute Airbnb, but Arrington was blamed out of the blue with little regard for actual guilt or innocence.

Jacques, listen: Airbnb already called the grownups, and he made an even bigger mess. You're telling us to calm down, to not be so brash, but you should have asked for her permission.

So, by this reasoning, who does airbnb owe responsibility to?

I hate this list. It takes too long to get its point across(17 points), all the micromanagement will slow everything down, and point 2 and 15 are contradictory. I worked under someone like this as an intern, and though I never "got in troub

Don't ignore the second post: She claims she hasn't been contacted by anyone since June 30th, until well, now, almost August, when the post went viral and this whole mess was brought to light. reply-edit: It's follow-through that matters. I

Taking pg's wonky comment (second-hand information, shifting blame on Arrington) as confirming the conspiracy theory is a "Because the bible tells me so". He's not your deus-ex-machina. And the conspiracy theory camp keeps calling the woman

+1 to the recommendations of Puerto Rico, Settlers, and Power Grid. Everyone I've played those games with immediately forget about Monopoly/Risk/etc and ask when we can get together to play again. I often play Neuroshima Hex on my iPhone, i

Open the door all the way until it hits the wall, throw a towel over it, and start doing pullups. Some people use workout gloves, but it's basically anything that will serve as padding. The door will hold, for sure. Here's a video of what i

I think you'd get more cred picking out a semi-popular project(so that your pull request doesn't get lost in the shuffle), and fix bugs and/or implement features. Maybe help with some documentation or translations.

You can throw a towel over a door and use it to do pullups, by the way. No need to find a tree branch. His evernote is much better than mine though, I'm such a lame pre-optimizer.

This kind of stuff is really important. I've done this for about a year now, read about it somewhere, called them Morning Pages, or something like that. It's really a daily brain dump, and I use Evernote to have the entries easily searchabl

The SDHN guys meet up quite regularly, http://goo.gl/l5MYb . Unfortunately, I don't live in SD anymore, or I'd let you crash on my couch while you got settled. I was in a similar position last year, and it can get a bit tough. It's an expe

I just made reading one of my hobbies and I read the really good ones twice, keeping notes as if I was engaging in conversation with the piece the second time around. You'll have to make some sacrifices. Reading is a large time/energy inves

Sure. The trick is to get to 10-12% body fat, which takes a little bit of time to get to, but it's easy to maintain once you're there. First, a standing desk. I always get fat when I'm sitting down for too long. Then, as soon as you wake up

This may sound a bit frivolous but, I've found that the quickest way to change your life for the better is to develop a nice set of abs. No better anti-depressant. I do get the urge to skip, of course, but I can usually convince myself not

It's not exactly sudden, you know. We're not using punch-cards anymore, for example. I've haven't done much debugging, since Haml/Sass/Coffeescript write better HTML/CSS/Javascript than I do, but you can always look at the compiled code if
