You have to change perspective: Why don’t have I a right to keep my source code secret? When I open an ice cream parlor you don’t have a right to know my recipe†. Why does that change with software? Your argumentative work has to start ther

But can you not at least understand that many people don't understand why those four Freedoms have to be assumed as given? The disagreement is not about how to best make sure the four Freedoms are respected, it's not about implementation. I

Christians run into problems because of that guy. You know, that guy who wants to execute gays and believes in Creationism. Oh well, not really. Christians are privileged as hell in every respect.

If you assume good faith that statement can't be incorrect. All the author claims is that there are atheists living in secrecy and isolation all over the country. He does not claim that all atheists do that.

Ohmigod makes pretty clear that it’s about expressing surprise and astonishment, not any actual call to a deity. Even Oh my god is usually not understood as an actual call to a god. There are certainly people who do not believe in god b

Looks like it: https://minefold.com/help That’s $17 per month for a 4 people server (with the $25 plan, $15 per month with the $45 plan). I don’t think that’s a competitive price (but don’t quote me on that, I have zero experience setting

Apple’s is a bit long and overly specific (Seriously, iWork? The software you last gave a serious update more than three years ago?) but that’s more a sign of an identity statement that has grown organically over the years instead of being

I can’t imagine that being a good idea. I’m not an US citizen and I wouldn’t ever want to speak up against any US border guard in any way. That doesn’t seem like a wise idea to me. They don’t have to leave me in. I don’t have any rights, ri

Facebook comments are incredibly boring and meaningless. There is little trolling or flame wars but there is equally little meaningful content. I’m not sure why everyone is obsessed with somehow finding a way to enable comments. Many websit

Pressuring Apple to do something about working conditions seems like a good strategy to me that is already working. Apple is a big, juicy and rich target and their Supplier Reports show great promise. It might not be fair on some absurd abs

This is getting more idiotic every time. Are you for real? First, I was explicitly talking about music. Second, DRM is no more. That’s it. The music store was a walled garden. It is no more. To call it a walled garden is stupid.

Are you serious?! Really?! That’s not what a walled garden is. You can walk out at any time and keep everything you bought. There is nothing forcing you to stay there. Getting in is a bit harder than opening a web browser – but that’s getti

What’s great about OS X’s approach is that it’s always there, in every app. (Some apps disable it which is a good way to make me angry.) Especially when you open up a brand new app or one you are not using frequently it can be frustrating t

I think that’s a very important point. The default is h.264 because Flash supports it and that used to be the only way to get video to the people. Now there are other ways, but they are not yet widespread enough, h.264 is consequently still
