Solar energy is also not forever and technically not renewable. The time horizon is what's interesting, that's what makes solar energy renewable. So what's the time horizon for geothermal energy? If it's more than a millenium I would have n

You look at it wrong. Nothing manipulates anything here. It’s a different technology with different properties.

Down to 1 meter is open access, down to centimeters is commercial. I thought the open access variant would merely be on par with GPS and you would have to pay for better positioning.

That’s good to hear! I test any Android device I can get my fingers on but I have not yet had an opportunity to test the Galaxy S II. (The stores I was in never had a charged one.)

It’s not a silly thing if I truly care about it. Lag drives me crazy. I hardly ever need more than a few minutes before I want to throw an Android device at the wall. This reason is personal. Others don’t care about it. That’s certainly tru

What? It seems pretty obvious to me that they are all moving in slightly different directions. (Android digs being cluttered and confusing, Apple digs being kitschy and fake. And I’m not happy about the direction each OS is going.)

I’m not aware of any lawsuits in the US. Are you? As far as I know ZeniMax is currently only suing in Sweden. (What good would it ZeniMax do if they were to win a lawsuit in the US, though? Mojang distributes digitally. Can US authorities b

Bullshit. Mojang was willing to drop that registration. Mojang and ZeniMax (well, their lawyers) were actually negotiating before they went to court. And where do you get the crazy idea that someone with a trademark for “Scrolls” can succes

No. Why should it? I don’t understand, are you implying it should? I don’t think personality flaws of the creators that don’t impact the product are ever a good reason for not using a product. That line of thinking doesn’t even make sense t

Because VoiceOver (Apple’s screenreader) uses a female voice. At least if you pick US English as your language. You will get a male voice if you pick British English or French. (Siri uses the same voice as the screenreader. There is only on

This is a brilliant example showing what great visual design and typography can do for an app. I never liked using Instapaper because I thought it looked so ugly. Now it's on par with the likes of Reeder and Twitter and I'm much more likely

Change perspective: You get the faster iPhone 4 with all its kinks worked out. And the next time you upgrade you get the faster iPhone 5 with all its kinks worked out. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

It would also be interesting to look at the growth of iPhone 4 sales. I know that they were growing like crazy in the quarters after the launch. But it's hard to compare. Sales numbers right after the launch are certainly always an outlier

Not on mobile devices :-) (That's no justification for using horizontal scrolling on a website that also targets the desktop, though.)

I’m confused. Is search for locations really the only useful feature Siri offers? Might it be that the guy is ever so slightly exaggerating? What Apple has screwed up are the non-US english language webpages. They list features Siri doesn’t

Given that the author likes to point out that Nokia is failing I don’t think it’s his intention to claim that Apple is spending inefficiently. Take it for what it is, it’s a paragraph to “put that in perspective”.
