Each shift is a week long. We're fortunate that our team has a European counterpart, so we don't have to respond at night. We do 9:30 am -> 9:30 pm, and there's 5 members in our rotation.

We have a pretty tight oncall (5 min response time). I think the steps you can take are: 1. Make it clear to your manager this is unacceptable, and you will end up looking for alternate teams/jobs if this goes on 2. Make the same thing

I made a bot that bet on horse races. The strategies were succesful but ultimately I spent more than it earned on AWS fees. I might turn it on again next year.

imports can't be safely automatically stripped in Python (or even 100% safely re-ordered) since they could have side effects. We run a linter that confirms with the user before stripping them, which works out well in practice.

I've also seen some tricks like stripping docstrings from the release since those strings (hopefully) aren't used in production.
