> Rust is a subset of C++ with extra static checks This is like saying that Julia is a subset of Python with JIT compilation. Rust and C++ have some conceptual similarities, but they are entirely different languages.

I'm seeing the same problem--the page crashes on mobile (Brave). On desktop it loads, but all of the code cells have a crashed page symbol in them.

Now all we need is a PDF reader embedded within a PDF. Bonus points for enabling it to open itself for infinite recursion.

Can confirm this. Teaching is a pass / fail grade for new professors to get tenure in most places. Your ability to get grant funding and publish highly cited papers are astronomically more important to the university than your teaching

This looks great! The Detexify web app [1] does something similar for LaTeX notation and has been incredibly helpful. Looking forward to using Shapecatcher! [1]: https://detexify.kirelabs.org/classify.html

Looks very interesting! How does this compare with Zenoh [1]? Also, I'm curious why you all included "OS" in the name? Almost every introduction to ROS/ROS2 has to explain that it isn't actually an operating system,

Very interesting to see how work in this space is progressing. Reminds me of a Nature paper a few years back about using physical systems as neural networks: Deep physical neural networks trained with backpropagation (2022) https:/&#x

These are all fair questions. This is the whole point of peer review--to bring up idea or concerns the authors may not have considered.

There's a lot of truth in this. I sometimes joke that robot benchmarks should focus on common household chores. Given a basket of mixed laundry, sort and fold everything into organized piles. Load a dishwasher given a sink and counters

Modular has an active community on Discord with a community showcase. They also have a new forum. Those are probably the best places to get a sense for what's being built with Mojo currently. I believe Modular committed to open sourcin

What method is Genesis using for JIT compilation? What subset of Python syntax / operations will be supported? The automatic differentiation seems to be intended for compatibility with Pytorch. Will Genesis be able to interface with JA

Also as an American, my experience was that the majority of high school students didn't care about the rules on phones. I attended high school when Motorola Razr flip phones were the hot new technology, and kids used them in class all

I've recently seen a lot of Rust rewrite projects that have talked about how much they've been required to use unsafe blocks. I'm currently in process of my first C++-to-Rust rewrite, and I haven't needed to reach for un

I'm curious how satellite Internet like Starlink will enhance and complement ham radio. To be clear, I don't see it replacing ham radio--there are too many great reasons to get into the hobby for that. But Starlink has been playin

I've heard great things about Zig as well. The one difference between it and Rust is the amount of industry and financial investment to date. Rust has had literally millions of dollars of buy-in from some of the biggest tech corporatio

In academia this is typically accomplished through staying up-to-date with top tier journals and conferences. I would say this is one of the benefits of IEEE--they have quite a few high-quality venues. However, there are also plenty of top-
