Having used both (though Django much more heavily) I don't see any practical differences between migrations in a non-declarative system (Rails) and a declarative one (Django). Migrations are always a bit of a pain, but database changes (at

Can you elaborate on the non-declarative schema point? With something like Django's South handling migrations, what problems does the declarative schema introduce that Rails side-steps?

I think I get it, thanks. Mongrel2 is better at being language agnostic, by virtue of intentional design. Looking forward to trying it out!

I'm missing the boat on how it's more language agnostic than other web servers (I'm most familiar with Apache)? EDIT: I see now that it's "language agnostic" based on using ZeroMQ to shuttle request/responses between Mongrel2 and a language

Saying "I didn't want to customize the environment" is disingenuous -- it means you're just benchmarking the default configurations, not the performance of the host itself. Any benchmark with that many "test failed" results isn't very valid

I've seen them used for a couple of other reasons: - Some email clients break wrapped urls - Physically printing a long url -- takes less space, and easier for users to type
