I've been silently dropped from group chats with iphone users. Never knew I was missing until they asked me in person.

By that logic, doing anything you aren't expert in is an act of faith. It's pretty reductive.

Depending on the field, it can be. Lots of University-affiliated labs in the medical field get significant industry funding.

Fine motor skills are, afaik, controlled by different networks than gross motor skills. They develop at different times in the brains. I don't think they can be that directly compared. Besides, I do like to take a break if I'm typ

I don't think it seems to be that clear cut, but the consensus does seem to show it's not a huge driver. More anecdotally though, to my original point, I really do need some brain rest in addition to just muscle fatigue between ha

It's not really, central nervous system exhaustion needs to be managed with strength training. And it takes quite a bit of concentration to lift properly, a short mental break is really useful.

I think you're right. They use terms like "final pixel" when they talk about it, which leads me to believe they're capturing the background and not just rerendering in post.

This sounds bonkers to me. We don't even understand fully what it would take to emulate a brain right now. I don't believe this for one second.

This is a wildly optimistic take on what AI can accomplish, and a misunderstanding of the difficulties in all those tasks. If AI can do the first set of jobs, it will be able to replace sales people, cops, and lawyers too. But there's

Not the same apps, though. In this comparison, it would be "my blackberry already runs iOS apps, but they're a bit slower than the new iphone". Improvement for sure, and I'd bet on StarLink making a lot of money on this

Nested resolvers can incur extra queries as you follow down the tree, unless you put extra effort into pre-fetching what child nodes need, or some kind of data loader as GP suggested. query { parent { child { field

A straightforward implementation certainly would have that problem. You have to put a decent amount of effort in to reduce query count to fill a nested query graph.

This isn't meant to detract from your point, but just a fun anecdote -- my first job out of college was working on a product that had its entire business logic layer built in stored procedures. All of it. Hundreds and hundreds of lines

Yeah but too many customers change their mind even after they've signed off. Then you're left with strictly enforcing a contract or making adaptations. You're right, design is very very necessary and should be given plenty of

Same. I know Apple does software/tactile interactions (firm press, click sound on trackpads for instance) so I assumed this had to do with that, and that new Apple keyboards created an artificial click. "Mutes your call while typi

That's the part I understood that GP was asking about. I know the math is way over my head, but I'm interested in the concepts, to the extent that I can be. I love popular science that tries to explain that (really been into PBS S

They don't say ethics outweighs science, do they? They're just two axes on which to evaluate the model. You're coming to some interesting conclusions from those slides, unless I'm misreading something.

I think fission to fusion is more like steam engine to jet engine. Fission can happen by _accident_ if you have the right materials at energy levels of just dropping something on something else [0]. Starting fusion isn't easy, but as I

I don't know Rust well enough to comment, but doing a lot of development in both JS and Python, JS is no cakewalk either. I'd say I deal with at least as many packaging/versioning issues on JS as I do on Python.

+1 on this, for me deadlifting has single-handedly fixed my back. I tried PT for it, with mixed results, but once I started lifting it completely went away. YMMV, but it's worth considering for sure.

Others can choose not to work at that company, right? In this scenario, nobody is being forced -- in either direction.
