If it is an DNS error, why is the .onion site also offline? - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facebook_onion_address - facebookwkhpilnemxj7asaniu7vnjjbiltxjqhye3mhbshg7kx5tfyd.onion

That gave me a smile :) Yes, I totally missed this side of the dice. Having your data stored locally, being in control, being able to reset the state to it's origin, export the local state as json and import it somewhere else, knowing

Yes. I have written both of them, mostly to make sure I trigger 100% of people, no matter if they like offline first or not. I mean, read all these comments on both articles. People say offline first does not work, then they say that every

Does having private fields mean we can securely minify them?

Firestore is not really offline-first. Your app wont start without internet connection because the auth handler needs that.

Yes. It can even work fully without any server synchronization. It is just a db in the browser, sync is optional.

You should try RxDB. It is based on pouchdb and therefore supports offline first [1]. Also you can use the graphql replication so that you are not limited to couchdb backend. Also there is a course made by hasura about using RxDB with their

Yes, indeed an impressive project. I think we should not use the termination "stored at IPFS" like they do. Distributed via IPFS would be much more correct in a technical sense.

Yes I fully understand this. Also with vue2 you often get problems with the internal version of "array" that is wrapper around a normal array to detect changes.

There is a big difference between having a changestream of writes to the database, and observing results of multiple queries.

There are many mobile apps out there which work great and are offline first. For example the whatsapp client. So saying it is "fundamentally flawed" sound weird to me. I have no deep knowledge of Firebase RTDB so I cannot do any c

Yes I did :D . I wrote a full master thesis about the differences and tradeoffs of these "realtime" databases.

No it does not work with appsync, but it could be hacked into doing that by modifiing the GraphQL plugin. There would be a huge value in replacing the aws datastore mainly because of its missing basic features like complex queries or querie

I updated my profile. I do not know supabase, is it similar to hasura? They spend quite some effort [1] to make the RxDB graphql replication working with their backend. Maybe supabase can use a similar wrapper over GraphQL. [1] https:/

Actually, the long term plan is to move away from pouchdb. Before the last major release [1] I decided to make RxDB useable with other frontend/backend databases but then found out that I first should refactor some pain points. [1] ht

It runs fully on the client and is offline first. A listener to PostgreSQL will not work when the device goes offline.

Yes pouchdb does not get the love it deserves. But it is still actively maintained, the last bug I had was timely fixed by the community and merged.

Good questions, I would like to see some data for that. I assume it is like a reverse bias where someone who looks like garbage is expected to be a good programmer.

Yes I thought the same. They did not make money with the open source project, instead created a product and sold that.

There is that video game called robocraft where you build robots and fight with them. There I learned to put all vital stuff in one place, because when you are dead you are dead. Spreading the weak spots around a body only increases the dan

I recommend to watch the documentation about the facebook people that invented GraphQL [1]. Listen careful to which problems they solved with graphql, then think about the problems you have to solve for your application. Most of the time Gr

Until 4chan comes and makes a challenge about who can remotely burn down a house faster. I think you need someone being personally responsible that the robot does not destroy stuff and people will not do this for free.

That is the reason why I let issues that sound bad, uncommented for at least one day. When you read it later again, you have a completely different mind about it, often a better one.
