Modern front-end architecture has "fixed" the 1 second page load and replaced it with a 0.5 second page load... And a 3 second spinner... And a 1 second spinner... And a 4 second progress bar... But hey the TTFB is under 1s now!

Then why not put it in order while you're hand crafting it?

Your point got me thinking... PHP arrays may have been one of the "killer features" that lead to it taking hold of the web. It's so frictionless, powerful, and you can bend them to your will with ease.

I have to disagree also. The order inserted makes most sense in most cases. Hand crafting integer based array indexes out of order is rare. And as you say a simple ksort call guarantees sort order. ksort($arr); echo join($arr, &qu

I'll second this. You only have so much mental energy and focus. Managing your self image in a room full of others is wasteful and exhausting.

Ugh. I'm not sure what's worse: them being lazy and uninterested or them feeling actively threatened by a student's search for knowledge. The latter of course being the antithesis of education.

I've had a similar experience with spying software in University. The instructor was bragging about the spying tool during a lesson. Driven by disgust of being watched I quickly identified the remote host and port. Hacked together a sh

We procrastinate because a lot of what we do _really_ doesn't truly matter. That thing you're procrastinating probably won't mean jack when you are on your death bed. The conflict is that we feel like that thing should matter

The problem with string theory is that there are limitless physics universes you can create within its framework so saying that ours fits in it is not saying a lot. Many universes could be described by it.

For some parts of a system if you write it correctly the first time there will be no need for optimization, premature or otherwise. If you know you will need to cache something just cache it, it's not premature, it's best practice
