Things change. Web development has a lot of incidental complexity that these tools help manage. Eventually tools are overcome by the complexity. Parcel in particular is a clever wrapper on top of several other tools, so I’m sure when their

At least 3! Lots more depending on your definition of “proficient”. “How do you be proficient if you study so many languages?” All programming languages are basically the same if you squint at them. Each language is better at different thin

Love the widget! Assuming an app handles it correctly, unique domains-per-deployment give me the warm fuzzies when debugging. When tracking down a problem, I want there to be no doubt I'm looking at the correct version. Vercel's a

Having worked on a similar system in the past - it’s a trade-off. On one hand, all your domains match across all environments/deployments and you can set a cookie and refresh to switch versions fast. Only 1 HTTPS cert and no subdomains

They’re worlds apart (I use both AWS and Vercel). AWS has everything you could ever need, but that means you have a ton of trade offs to consider whenever you want to start something new. I often want a one-off website deployed live on the

While I too have seen strange knowledge gaps in interviews (interviews for JS developers who can't write a function that adds two numbers), the NXDOMAIN issue doesn't surprise me too much. Maybe it's different for SREs, but a

Do you have a good recommendation for learning about what use cases DynamoDB makes sense for? I've used MongoDB and various SQL databases extensively, and when I tried DynamoDB it felt like a solution in search of a problem compared to
